What only tents out of stock! Single and multi-seat, winter and summer, tarpaulin and nylon ... Nevertheless, tourists continue to actively develop and manufacture their own options. And this is understandable: after all, a good, comfortable tent will not only protect you from bad weather, but also allow you to fully relax, recuperate after a hard day's transition.

Getting started designing your camping house, I proceeded from the principle of "maximum comfort with minimum weight." In the tent, without interfering with each other, two people are accommodated; waterproof awning is not afraid of precipitation; weight with a set of racks and pegs does not exceed 2 kg.

For operation of the tent in different climatic zones, it is made double - it consists of an awning and an inner tent. Two separate entrances bring additional convenience. The use of tubes can be recommended for mountain and ski trips: when tied, the tube well protects against clogging the tent with snow. In forest areas, it is quite possible to get by with an entrance on a large plastic "zipper", in the form of an inverted letter T.

For sewing, I used only nylon materials, which, with a low weight, have good strength characteristics, do not rot, and are well dyed. But ordinary cotton fabrics can also be used; however, the condition "... with a minimum mass" in this case will not be able to withstand. The material of the inner tent is a thin parachute capron; the floor is made in the form of a trough made of bologna-type fabric; calendered nylon, "bologna" or nylon from a brake parachute were used for the awning (fortunately, "army" goods are now on sale).

So that the edges of the nylon blanks do not crumble, it is convenient to cut with a hot soldering iron (with a sharpened tip), along a metal ruler. In this case, it is necessary to give an allowance for seams - 20 mm (on the drawings, the dimensions are indicated without allowances). The panels are connected with a double seam. For reinforcement, a nylon tape 10 mm wide is sewn into them. Braces and loops for pegs are made from the same tapes. It turns out a kind of power frame.

In the case of making an awning from cotton fabric or parachute capron, it must be impregnated with some kind of water-repellent composition. For example, you can use the so-called "bootswell" - a film of broken car glass "triplex", dissolving it in solvent No. 647 in a ratio of 90-100 g per liter. Impregnation must be carried out outdoors, during the warm season. The composition is applied to the stretched fabric with a brush; seams are smeared on both sides. At an air temperature of 20°C, the composition dries in 20 minutes. The awning must be soaked 3 times. By the way, you can combine the operation of impregnation with staining. To do this, add oil paint to the bootswell solution.

The technology for setting up a tent is somewhat different from the accepted ones. First, an awning is stretched on two racks, and then an inner tent is suspended on nylon braces by rings sewn to the inside of the ridge of the awning. This solution reduces installation time, which is especially important in bad weather.

Taking this tent as a basis, you can make its various modifications, for example, a three-seater version - you just need to increase the width of the inner tent and awning by 500 mm. And you can make a combination: an inner tent for two, and an awning from a triple one - you get a large vestibule in which you can place things or cook food on a stove.

Raspberry Pi Pico microcontroller board 28.01.2021

The basis of the Raspberry Pi Pico board is a new microcontroller of our own design RP2040. The main goals that were pursued during its development were high performance, especially for integer calculations, wide possibilities for connecting external devices and low price. The result is a tiny "crystal" with an area of two square millimeters in a QFN-56 package with dimensions of 7x7 mm.‎ The dimensions of the Raspberry Pi Pico board itself are 51x21 mm.

Specifications of the RP2040 microcontroller:

dual-core ARM Cortex-M0+ processor with a base clock speed of 48 MHz and the ability to increase up to 133 MHz;
264 KB SRAM;
support for up to 16 MB of external flash memory via the QSPI bus;
DMA controller;
integer divider interpolator and peripherals;
30 GPIO lines for connecting external devices, four of which are allocated for analog input;
controllers UART (x2), I2C (x2) and SPI (x2);
16 PWM channels;
USB 1.1 controller (client and host with UF2 boot support);
8 PIO pins (Programmable I/O state machines) for connecting branded peripherals.

The capabilities of the microcontroller are sufficient to run applications designed to process machine learning tasks. A port of the TensorFlow Lite framework has been prepared for their development. Applications can be created using C, C++, or MicroPython, and can be written via Micro USB.
