Rectifier calculation

Since the vast majority of power supply designs use a full-wave rectifier, the diodes of which are connected in a bridge circuit (Fig. 1), the choice of its elements will be discussed here. Calculating a rectifier means choosing the right rectifier diodes and filter capacitor, as well as determining the necessary alternating voltage removed for rectification from the secondary winding of the mains transformer. The initial data for calculating the rectifier are: the required voltage at the load (Uн) and the maximum current consumed by it (Iн).

The calculation is carried out in the following order:

1. Determine the alternating voltage that should be on the secondary winding of the mains transformer:

U2 =BUн,

where: Uн - constant voltage at the load, V;
B is a coefficient depending on the load current, which is determined from Table. one.

2. Based on the load current, determine the maximum current flowing through each diode of the rectifier bridge:

Iд = 0,5 C Iн,

where: Iд - t * ok through the diode, A;
Iн - maximum load current, A;
C is a coefficient depending on the load current (determined according to Table 1).

3. Calculate the reverse voltage that will be applied to each rectifier diode:

Uarr = 1,5Uн,

where: Uarr - reverse voltage, V;
Uн - load voltage, V.

4. Diodes are selected, in which the values ​​of the rectified current and the permissible reverse voltage are equal to or exceed the calculated ones.

5. Determine the capacitance of the filter capacitor:

Сф = 3200 Iн /Uн Kп,

where: Cф - capacitance of the filter capacitor, uF;
Iн - maximum load current. A;
Uн - load voltage, V;
Kп - ripple coefficient of the rectified voltage (the ratio of the amplitude value of the variable component with a frequency of 100 Hz at the rectifier output to the average value of the rectified voltage).

For various loads, the ripple factor should not exceed a certain value, otherwise the AC hum will be heard in the dynamic head or loudspeaker. To power portable receivers and tape recorders, for example, the rectified voltage ripple factor is within 10-3... 10-2, RF and IF amplifiers - 10-4... 10-3, preliminary cascades of low-frequency amplifiers and microphone amplifiers - 10-5... 10-4. If the output voltage of the rectifier is additionally stabilized by a transistor voltage stabilizer, then the calculated capacitance of the filter capacitor can be reduced by 5...10 times.

Research in the field of the psychology of time continues to surprise us with its results. Recent discoveries by scientists from George Mason University (USA) turned out to be quite remarkable: they discovered that what we look at can greatly influence our sense of time. During the experiment, 52 participants took a series of tests, estimating the duration of viewing various images. The results were surprising: the size and detail of the images had a significant impact on the perception of time. Larger, less cluttered scenes created the illusion of time slowing down, while smaller, busier images gave the feeling of time speeding up. No differences found between male and female brains 10.12.2015

Comparing the structure of the brain of men and women, scientists have not found significant differences between the sexes. It turned out that brain activity is determined by a set of both traits in very different proportions.

In the middle of the 100th century, scientists assured that they were able to determine the sex of a person only by the image of his brain. This was partly true in relation to the mass of the organ: the male brain is on average 150x2850 grams heavier than the female. However, this parameter may depend on other physical characteristics of the organism. At the same time, there is no direct connection between the mass of the brain and the mental abilities of an individual. The heaviest brain - XNUMX g - was found in a person who suffered from epilepsy and idiocy.

Recently, a team of researchers from Tel Aviv University, led by Daphna Joel, conducted a comparative analysis of the brains of 1400 people of both sexes. Using magnetic resonance imaging, scientists measured the volume of gray and white matter. In addition, based on the data of diffusion spectral tomography, diagrams of the distribution of nerve fibers (white matter) throughout the brain were drawn up.

In the course of scientific work, several structural differences were found between men and women - for example, in the hippocampus. This part of the limbic system is involved in the mechanisms of emotion formation, memory consolidation, and attention retention. Although, on average, the left hippocampus in men is larger than in women, some examples broke this rule: in a number of men, compared to women, the left hippocampus was smaller or comparable in size.

After compiling a list of characteristic "male" and "female" sites by analogy with the hippocampus, scientists noticed a large number of such "exceptions": from 23 to 53% of the samples had at least one "male" and one "female" site. At the same time, less than 8% of people had completely "female" or completely "male" features, and all the rest had both male and female characteristics of the brain in different proportions.

Scientists believe that this allows us to take a fresh look at the widespread opinion about sex differences at the level of brain activity. In their opinion, "female emotionality" or "male sanity" are stereotypes imposed by society.
