Butterbur hybrid (podbel hybrid)

Perennial herbaceous plant, the most famous species of the Butterbur genus.

The height of an adult plant is from 30 to 70 cm.

Basal leaves are usually large, rounded kidney-shaped, at the base with a heart-shaped notch between the lobes, their width and length are usually the same and are 15-70 cm; the petiole reaches a length of 120 cm. The lower part of the leaf is grayish-pubescent.

The flowers are reddish, dirty pink. Baskets in spicate or paniculate inflorescence appear in early spring, before the leaves bloom. The inflorescence is dense at first, then stretches into a long brush. The flower-bearing stem and the scaly leaves of a greenish-beet color densely covering it.

Butterbur hybrid is found wild throughout Europe, as well as in Turkey and in temperate regions in the Asian part of Russia; in addition, the species has become naturalized in some areas of the United States. It grows mainly on alkaline soils along the banks of water bodies, in damp forest ravines, and in other humid places.

In cultivated form, the plant can be found throughout the world.

The plant is perennial, winter-hardy, cold-resistant, moisture-loving and shade-tolerant. Propagated by seeds and vegetatively - rhizomatous cuttings and parts of the bush. Seeds quickly lose their germination. An ephemeral plant that has adapted well to northern habitats. Peduncles are formed at an air temperature of 2-3 ° C. Withstands spring frosts down to -4 °C. The leaf mass does not suffer from autumn frosts down to -7 C. The vegetation period lasts 60-65 days. The plant is pollinated by insects. The flowers are readily visited by bees.

Butterbur hybrid (podbel hybrid)

It grows on soils of different physical and mechanical composition, well supplied with water. On fertile and well-fertilized soils with a close location of groundwater and in areas provided with precipitation in the summer, it gives high yields of aboveground mass. Perfectly reacts to spring introduction of organic and mineral fertilizers.

Butterbur hybrid is a food plant for caterpillars of the butterfly Buszkoiana capnodactylus.

Green grass on a dry basis contains: 16,4% protein, 17,6% ash, including 3,1% calcium, 5,9% potassium and 0,74% phosphorus. Also contains 158 mg/kg of carotene and 96 mg/100 g of ascorbic acid.

Can be used for silage, green fodder and grass meal. The green mass in crushed form is eaten by sheep, goats and cows. Good nutritional qualities of the species are associated with a high content of protein, ash elements, sugars, carotene and ascorbic acid.

Eating by noble and reindeer, wild boars is noted.

Features of application in gardening: Butterbur hybrid, unlike some other species of this genus, successfully tolerates strong shading.

cultivated and wild plants. Legends, myths, symbolism, description, cultivation, methods of application

Butterbur hybrid (Petasites hybridus) is a perennial plant from the Asteraceae family that grows in temperate climates. It is known for its medicinal properties and is used to treat many ailments.

Tips for growing, harvesting and storing:

Cultivation:

  • Butterbur hybrid prefers to grow on moist, fertile soils with neutral or weak acidity. He prefers shady or semi-shady places where he can protect himself from the bright sun.
  • Butterbur hybrid plants should be planted in autumn or spring. The planting depth should be the same as for other perennials, approximately to a depth equal to the height of the root. Plants should be placed 50-60 cm apart to give them enough room to grow.
  • Water the plants regularly to keep the soil moist. However, avoid overwatering the soil, as this can lead to root rot.
  • Remove flowering shoots to prevent self-seeding.
  • Trim as needed to maintain plant shape and improve air circulation.
  • Remove weeds that can compete for nutrients and moisture.
  • In the spring, after the snow has melted, remove the last annual leaf and prune the fading leaves.
  • During periods of dryness, mulch the soil to retain moisture.

Workpiece:

  • Butterbur hybrid has valuable medical properties and can be used as a raw material for the production of medicines.
  • The leaves of the plant should be collected during the flowering period in spring or early summer.

Storage:

  • Butterbur hybrid leaves can be dried or frozen for storage. They must be stored in a cool and dry place.
  • Frozen leaves can be stored in the freezer for up to 6 months.

Energy from space for Starship 08.05.2024

Producing solar energy in space is becoming more feasible with the advent of new technologies and the development of space programs. The head of the startup Virtus Solis shared his vision of using SpaceX's Starship to create orbital power plants capable of powering the Earth. Startup Virtus Solis has unveiled an ambitious project to create orbital power plants using SpaceX's Starship. This idea could significantly change the field of solar energy production, making it more accessible and cheaper. The core of the startup's plan is to reduce the cost of launching satellites into space using Starship. This technological breakthrough is expected to make solar energy production in space more competitive with traditional energy sources. Virtual Solis plans to build large photovoltaic panels in orbit, using Starship to deliver the necessary equipment. However, one of the key challenges ... >>

New method for creating powerful batteries 08.05.2024

With the development of technology and the expanding use of electronics, the issue of creating efficient and safe energy sources is becoming increasingly urgent. Researchers at the University of Queensland have unveiled a new approach to creating high-power zinc-based batteries that could change the landscape of the energy industry. One of the main problems with traditional water-based rechargeable batteries was their low voltage, which limited their use in modern devices. But thanks to a new method developed by scientists, this drawback has been successfully overcome. As part of their research, scientists turned to a special organic compound - catechol. It turned out to be an important component that can improve battery stability and increase its efficiency. This approach has led to a significant increase in the voltage of zinc-ion batteries, making them more competitive. According to scientists, such batteries have several advantages. They have b ... >>

Alcohol content of warm beer 07.05.2024

Beer, as one of the most common alcoholic drinks, has its own unique taste, which can change depending on the temperature of consumption. A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. On the contrary, as the temperature increases, the clusters become more chain-like, resulting in a more pronounced alcoholic taste. This explains why the taste of some alcoholic drinks, such as baijiu, can change depending on temperature. The data obtained opens up new prospects for beverage manufacturers, ... >>

Enhanced LED Driver IC 09.05.2020

Maxim Integrated Products has released a new family of ICs for automotive circuits. The MAX25601A/B/C/D contain a synchronous boost controller followed by a synchronous LED buck driver controller.

The boost controller's input voltage range of 4,5V to 40V is ideal for automotive applications. In fact, this controller serves as a preliminary boost regulator for the second stage of the microcircuit - a step-down LED controller.

The synchronous boost converter operates in inductor current control mode and can be connected in parallel with another device to increase output power. The SYNCOUT pin, designed to control the RT / SYNCIN pin of another device, allows you to organize anti-phase synchronization of two microcircuits operating in parallel. The switching frequency of the boost converter is programmable from 200 kHz to 2,2 MHz. To reduce the level of electromagnetic interference, an expansion of the spectrum of the synchronization signal is implemented.

An internal digitally controlled soft-start circuit ensures that the buck output ramps up smoothly. The list of safety features includes pulsing mode, overvoltage protection, and crystal overtemperature shutdown.
