Oslinnik (primrose biennial, onagric, flight)

Names: German Rapuntika-Wurzel, Nachtkerze, Garten-Rapunzel; fr. onagre bisannuele, enothere bisannuelle, herbe aux anes, jambom, j. de St-Antoine, lusimachie, fl. ezelskruid; English evening primrose; Swede, gultraf; it. rapontica, rapunzia; Polish raponka.

Biennial. In the first year it gives a rosette of leaves adjacent to the soil, in the second - a stem bearing an inflorescence-brush.

Basal leaves are elliptical, with a base tapering towards the petiole, entire, pointed; stem leaves almost sessile, broadly lanceolate, with a finely toothed margin.

Flowers lemon-yellow, petals up to 2 cm long, notched.

Natural range - North America. It was introduced to Europe in the XNUMXth century and then spread further east. Now it grows wild in central Russia, as well as in the Ciscaucasia and the Far East.

Prefers slightly moist habitats. So, it can be found on sandy deposits along the banks of rivers, in floodplains. It is also a ruderal plant - it grows along roadsides, embankments, in weedy places.

Oslinnik (primrose biennial, onagric, flight)

Valuable pasture plant. It is well eaten by livestock and especially by sheep and cattle. Eaten by spotted deer. Leaves and roots are satisfactorily eaten by pigs. Roots can be fed boiled to pigs.

In floriculture, primrose has become widespread as a beautifully flowering plant. Under the name of evening primrose, hybrid varieties of aspen are bred.

Honey plant. Bees collect nectar from a two-year-old donkey from the moment the flower opens until late at night and return in the morning, even before sunrise. They fill the goiter, having visited only one or two flowers, drops of nectar are so large in them.

Honey is dark yellow with a greenish tint. Suitable for wintering bees.

Secondary pollen. The mass of anthers of one flower is 14,0-18,0 mg, and the pollen production is 4,7-6,0 mg. The pollen is yellow, very sticky, and the bees do not collect it.

Root type carrot, eaten. Other types of aspen are also used for this purpose: O. suaveolens Desf., O. striata Steud.

cultivated and wild plants. Legends, myths, symbolism, description, cultivation, methods of application

Evening (evening primrose, onagric, flying), Oenothera biennis is a plant of the Aspen family, which is often used in medicine and cooking.

Tips for growing, harvesting and storing donkey:

Cultivation:

  • Aspen is best grown in an open sunny area with well-drained soil.
  • Seeds can be sown in early spring or autumn. Sowing should be carried out at a depth of about 1 cm, with a distance between plants of 30-45 cm.
  • When growing a donkey, it is necessary to water it regularly, especially during the period of dryness.
  • Removing weeds and loosening the soil will help keep the plant healthy and productive.

Workpiece:

  • The best time to pick donkey flowers is in the middle of the day when they are fully open.
  • Harvested flowers can be dried on paper towels in a dark, well-ventilated area.
  • Harvested leaves can be used immediately after picking or frozen for future use.

Storage:

  • Dried donkey flowers can be stored in paper bags or glass jars with tightly closed lids in a cool and dry place.
  • Dried leaves are stored in the same way as flowers.
  • Store donkey away from direct sunlight, heat, and humidity to preserve its aroma and flavor.

Energy from space for Starship 08.05.2024

Producing solar energy in space is becoming more feasible with the advent of new technologies and the development of space programs. The head of the startup Virtus Solis shared his vision of using SpaceX's Starship to create orbital power plants capable of powering the Earth. Startup Virtus Solis has unveiled an ambitious project to create orbital power plants using SpaceX's Starship. This idea could significantly change the field of solar energy production, making it more accessible and cheaper. The core of the startup's plan is to reduce the cost of launching satellites into space using Starship. This technological breakthrough is expected to make solar energy production in space more competitive with traditional energy sources. Virtual Solis plans to build large photovoltaic panels in orbit, using Starship to deliver the necessary equipment. However, one of the key challenges ... >>

New method for creating powerful batteries 08.05.2024

With the development of technology and the expanding use of electronics, the issue of creating efficient and safe energy sources is becoming increasingly urgent. Researchers at the University of Queensland have unveiled a new approach to creating high-power zinc-based batteries that could change the landscape of the energy industry. One of the main problems with traditional water-based rechargeable batteries was their low voltage, which limited their use in modern devices. But thanks to a new method developed by scientists, this drawback has been successfully overcome. As part of their research, scientists turned to a special organic compound - catechol. It turned out to be an important component that can improve battery stability and increase its efficiency. This approach has led to a significant increase in the voltage of zinc-ion batteries, making them more competitive. According to scientists, such batteries have several advantages. They have b ... >>

Alcohol content of warm beer 07.05.2024

Beer, as one of the most common alcoholic drinks, has its own unique taste, which can change depending on the temperature of consumption. A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. On the contrary, as the temperature increases, the clusters become more chain-like, resulting in a more pronounced alcoholic taste. This explains why the taste of some alcoholic drinks, such as baijiu, can change depending on temperature. The data obtained opens up new prospects for beverage manufacturers, ... >>

New antibacterial composite obtained using plasma 04.10.2021

Silver nanoparticles (AG NPs) have excellent antibacterial properties and biocompatibility, and the addition of two-dimensional graphene can greatly improve the dispersibility of silver nanoparticles and improve sterilization efficiency. However, current methods for preparing the AgNPs@rGO composite usually require harsh conditions using toxic and polluting chemicals.

The researchers used high-voltage DC discharge plasma to fabricate AgNPs@rGO by simultaneously reducing Ag+ ions and graphene oxide.

"The advantage is clear and the technology is ready to be applied. The synthesis of AgNPs@rGO composite nanomaterial using electric discharge took only a very short period of time (within one minute), which is much more efficient than the traditional costly and time-consuming processing," said Professor Huang Qing, head of the research group.

The obtained AgNPs@rGO nanomaterial showed an excellent disinfecting effect and biocompatibility. It is well suited for wound healing, if plasters are made on its basis.
