Basic scientific information, legends, myths, symbolism

Sort by: Bristle (Setaria)

Family: Cereals (Poaceae)

Origin: The bristles originate from different regions of the world, including Africa, Asia, Europe, Australia, and the Americas.

Area: Plants of the genus Setaria are found on all continents except Antarctica. They grow in various climatic zones, including subtropical, tropical and temperate zones.

Chemical composition: Bristle contains proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals, amino acids and other biologically active compounds. In addition, foxtail has a high silicon content, which makes it useful for animals as feed.

Economic value: Bristle is used as feed for animals such as cows, sheep, goats, pigs and poultry. It is also used for landscaping lawns and green spaces, for the preparation of tinctures and herbal teas in traditional medicine, and for the manufacture of weaving materials. In addition, some types of foxtail may find use as a source of biomass for the production of biofuels and bioplastics.

Legends, myths, symbolism: In Celtic culture, the bristles were associated with the goddess Morrigan, who was the goddess of death and war. It was believed that the bristle is her symbol and is used to create talismans and spells related to magic and war. In Christian culture, bristle is associated with the devil and is considered a symbol of evil and death. It may also be associated with cruelty and disease, as its leaves can cause skin irritation and allergic reactions in humans. Symbolically, foxtail can be associated with instability, change, and impermanence, as it is a fast growing plant that can quickly invade new territories and then disappear. It can also symbolize hardiness and vitality, as this plant can survive in difficult conditions and on different soil types. In general, bristles can symbolize death, war, and evil, but can also be associated with endurance, change, and vitality.

Bristle (setaria), Setaria. Basic information about the plant, use in medicine and cooking

Bristle (setaria)

Gray bristle and green bristle are herbaceous annual grasses.

The flowers are collected in spikelets, densely covered with bluish or purple bristles. From a ripe ear, grains spill out very easily.

Bristle grain is used to make cereals. Ears are harvested immediately after yellowing, so that the seeds do not crumble. They are pounded in mortars or shelled in husks.

Bristle groats are not inferior to millet in nutritional value.

In the western regions of Ukraine and Polissya, bristles are soaked and ground in metal or wooden mortars until a liquid pasty mass is obtained. Salt, milk, raw eggs are added to it, stir well and pancakes are baked in a frying pan. They are eaten fresh with butter or sour cream.

Pancakes are very tasty, have high nutritional properties, so they are very useful for convalescent patients.

The existence of an entropy rule for quantum entanglement has been proven 09.05.2024

Quantum mechanics continues to amaze us with its mysterious phenomena and unexpected discoveries. Recently, Bartosz Regula from the RIKEN Center for Quantum Computing and Ludovico Lamy from the University of Amsterdam presented a new discovery that concerns quantum entanglement and its relation to entropy. Quantum entanglement plays an important role in modern quantum information science and technology. However, the complexity of its structure makes understanding and managing it challenging. Regulus and Lamy's discovery shows that quantum entanglement follows an entropy rule similar to that for classical systems. This discovery opens new perspectives in the field of quantum information science and technology, deepening our understanding of quantum entanglement and its connection to thermodynamics. The results of the study indicate the possibility of reversibility of entanglement transformations, which could greatly simplify their use in various quantum technologies. Opening a new rule ... >>
