Sort by: Cyclamen (Cyclamen)

Family: Pimenaceae (Primulaceae)

Origin: Central and Southern Europe, Northern Africa, Western Asia.

Area: Cyclamen is widespread in the temperate climates of Europe and Asia, as well as in North Africa.

Chemical composition: Cyclamen roots contain alkaloids (cyclamine, cyclamarin, cyclamine), carotenoids, xanthophylls, tannins, flavonoids, saponins, essential oils, etc.

Economic value: Cyclamens are used as ornamental plants for interior and garden decoration. In pharmacology, cyclamen alkaloids are used for the production of diuretics, as well as a remedy for worms and as a cardiotonic. Also in folk medicine, cyclamen is prescribed as an anti-inflammatory, choleretic and anti-migraine agent. However, when using cyclamen, one should be extremely careful, as large doses can cause poisoning.

Legends, myths, symbolism: In ancient Greek mythology, cyclamen was associated with the goddess Persephone, who was abducted by Hades, god of the underworld. It is said that the cyclamen was created by Zeus to comfort Persephone, who was forced to spend part of the year in Hades. Cyclamen. Legends, myths, history

Cyclamen

A curious legend about this flower says that when King Solomon built the temple, he decided to invent a crown for himself. The masters offered him crowns of various shapes, but the king did not like any of them. Feeling upset, he went for a walk through the fields and hills and saw that the whole earth was covered with a flower carpet. Each flower tried to attract royal attention and offered the king to test himself as a crown.

When they saw the king, they shouted:

- Here I am - red, a beautiful example for the crown!

- No, I'm yellow, I'm more suitable!

- Me, me, me! the flowers shouted proudly.

But the humble King Solomon did not want his head to be crowned with self-satisfied and boastful flowers. Returning back to the temple, he noticed a timid pink cyclamen lurking among the rocks. His eyes lit up, and he decided to make himself a crown in the shape of this particular flower. The king thought that this crown would be a reminder to him that the people needed to be ruled wisely and at the same time modestly. After the death of King Solomon, cyclamen became sad and bowed his head even lower.

There is an ancient sign: if there is a cyclamen in your house, not a single evil spell directed against you will work. In addition, these flowers have another property - they protect the house from the elements and bad weather.

The main properties of the flower: love, protection from evil forces, including energy.

Influence: drives away bad dreams, dispels unreasonable fears, protects from disappointments, malevolent thoughts, bad thoughts, envy and evil spells.

Cyclamen is uplifting and useful for anyone who is allergic to cold. These flowers are needed in homes where soft-bodied and susceptible to other people's influence live. Thanks to cyclamen, children stop being capricious, and adults become more independent.

Cyclamen. Botanical description, plant history, legends and folk traditions, cultivation and use

Cyclamen

The ancient Romans, loving and divorcing cyclamens, sincerely believed that they were able to protect from the evil eye and from all sorts of slanders, and therefore attributed the flowers to the family amulets.

However, their love for cyclamens most likely came because in folk medicine, since the time of Hippocrates, cyclamens have been treated and continue to treat many diseases.

In greenhouses and apartments, cyclamen blooms from September to March; on one bush it sometimes blooms up to one hundred and forty flowers, and their flowering is so majestic and spiritual that, looking at them, no one remains indifferent.

It seems that pink, red, blue, white and purple butterflies flutter over the dark green leaves in white stains for several weeks.

Cyclamens, along with violets and daffodils, were cultivated by the inhabitants of Ancient Hellas, and the scientific name of the flower comes from those times (in Greek "tsiklus" - "circle").

Cyclamen

Together with the snowdrop and violet, cyclamen blooms immediately after the snow melts, and in winters with little snow it can bloom even during thaws. However, by the middle of summer, its leaves die off and peck again only by the autumn leaf fall, so that by the beginning of winter they will go under the snow and ice in green decoration and with colored buds, and when spring comes, one of the first to flare up with joyful petals.

Our indoor cyclamens are cultivated descendants of Persian cyclamen. Among them, the White Orchid variety and the so-called Rocco with corrugated petals are especially beautiful.

More than fifty different species of them live in the gardens and parks of the country, two of which - Colchis cyclamen and Kuznetsov cyclamen, blooming in March with dazzling white, pink and pale pink flowers and growing wild in a small oak forest of Crimea near the village of Russkoye, Belgorod region, are listed in the Red Book.

MAX31856 - ADC for thermocouples with protection and linearization 29.12.2015

The MAX31856 from Maxim Integrated allows you to quickly and easily implement a ready-made measurement path for working with thermocouples (K, J, N, R, S, T, E, and B types) on a single chip, because. contains all the necessary and sufficient functional blocks:

- protection of input lines;
- signal amplification and normalization circuit;
- ADC;
- reference voltage source;
- cold junction compensation;
- built-in linearization.

AFE can measure temperatures in the range of -210...+1800°C depending on the particular type of thermocouple with a resolution of 0,0078125°C. Each type of thermocouple has its own non-linearity, which is compensated by the internal linearization block. The inputs of the microcircuit have built-in protection in the range of +-45 V, as well as hardware for detecting a short circuit and a break in the sensor, and an output - an indicator of a substandard signal "FAULT".

Through the SPI interface, all the required settings are made, the choice of the type of thermocouple and the linearization function. The values are provided in degrees Celsius, which does not require the use of additional functions in the software.

To evaluate the AFE capability of the MAX31856, the MAX31856EVSYS evaluation kit is available, consisting of a MAX31856-based evaluation board, PC interface board, and software. This kit allows you to quickly and conveniently connect the chip to a PC and evaluate the achievable performance without additional development of a prototyping board. The MAX31856-based evaluation board has a PMOD interface, making it possible to connect it to your own board at the prototyping stage.
