Resuscitation in circulatory arrest

The cessation of heart activity can occur under the influence of a variety of reasons (drowning, suffocation, gas poisoning, electric shock and lightning, cerebral hemorrhage, myocardial infarction and other heart diseases, heat stroke, blood loss, direct blow to the heart area, burns, freezing etc.) and in any environment - in the hospital, dentist's office, at home, on the street, at work. In any of these cases, at the disposal of the person producing resuscitation, there is only 3-4 minutes to make a diagnosis and restore the blood supply to the brain. There are two types of cardiac arrest: asystole (true cardiac arrest) and fibrillation (flutter) of the ventricles, when certain fibers of the heart muscle contract chaotically, uncoordinated. Both in the first and in the second case, the heart stops "pumping" blood, and the blood flow in the vessels stops.

The main symptoms of cardiac arrest that allow for a quick diagnosis are:

  • loss of consciousness;
  • lack of pulse, including on the carotid and femoral arteries;
  • absence of heart sounds;
  • respiratory arrest;
  • pallor or cyanosis of the skin and mucous membranes;
  • dilated pupils;
  • convulsions that may appear at the time of loss of consciousness and be the first noticeable symptom of cardiac arrest.

These symptoms convincingly indicate a circulatory arrest and that one should not waste a second on an additional examination (measuring blood pressure, determining the pulse rate) or looking for a doctor, but it is necessary to immediately begin resuscitation - heart massage and artificial respiration. It should be remembered that cardiac massage should always be carried out simultaneously with artificial respiration, as a result of which the circulating blood is supplied with oxygen. Otherwise, resuscitation is meaningless.

Currently, two types of heart massage are used - open, or straight, which is used only during operations on the organs of the chest cavity, and closed, outdoor, passed through the unopened chest.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Mitsubishi Automotive Projection Systems 09.10.2017

Mitsubishi Electric Corporation specialists have developed a new system called Safe and Secure Lighting, designed to improve road safety.

The idea is to inform pedestrians, cyclists and other motorists of the driver's intentions. To do this, it is proposed to use a special projection platform and displays mounted in the vehicle body.

As conceived by the researchers, the Safe and Secure Lighting complex with the help of projectors will form an image on the road surface informing about what kind of maneuver the driver intends to make. It can be, say, arrows indicating the direction of movement or symbolizing that the motorist wants to open the door. Additional information will be displayed on screens that can be installed around the perimeter of the machine.

The Safe and Secure Lighting system will be useful primarily at night. In this case, the signs projected onto the road will help other road users to understand in advance what action the motorist will perform.

In addition, in the future, based on the concept of Safe and Secure Lighting, a new display system for unmanned vehicles can be made.
