Children sometimes bite their tongue. The wound may be deep enough and the bleeding heavy. Moreover, the tongue is an organ with a very intensive blood supply. In addition, such wounds are very painful and prevent the child from eating. But they are not dangerous. It is only important not to irritate the tongue with sour, spicy and hot food, and the wound will heal. In the process of healing, a gray-white coating forms on it, which in no case should be torn off - it will soon disappear.

When to see a doctor

If the tip of the tongue is bitten off and hangs by a "hair".

First aid

1. Roll up a clean handkerchief and press against the wound to stop bleeding.

2. If the bleeding is severe, moisten a handkerchief or a piece of bandage with hydrogen peroxide and press it against the wound.

3. After stopping the bleeding, do not give the child anything to eat for at least an hour, and in the next 5 hours do not eat hot and sour foods. Instead, treat your child to ice cream.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Autonomous lamp post 07.08.2009

The design studio of the Dutch firm Philips has designed a street lamp that does not need to be connected to the city's power grid.

The light pole (this model is called the "Flower of Light") carries on its top a corolla of "petals" covered with solar panels. During the day, the corolla rotates after the Sun, accumulating energy in batteries.

If the day turned out to be cloudy and windy, the whisk turns in such a way that it serves as the rotor of a wind-electric generator, and the batteries are charged again. At night, energy is spent on the glow of the LEDs with which the pole is seated. When no one is near the lamp, their brightness decreases to a minimum, but if a passerby appears, the LEDs flash brighter.

According to the authors of the idea, such lamps may appear on the streets of European cities in five years.
