Burns There are both superficial, affecting very thin layers of the skin, and deep, affecting tissues and even organs. Burns of the respiratory tract, eyes, face and genitals are of great danger.

Burns can be caused by fire, electricity, chemicals, or boiling liquids. With a severe burn of a large area, not only all layers of the skin are destroyed, but the fat layer and muscles are also injured.

To be able to provide first aid is necessary in any case. But different degrees of burns require a different approach. To alleviate the condition of the child before the arrival of a doctor, try to determine how serious the damage he has.

Burn symptoms

1st degree burn: redness, pain, swelling - the surface layer of the skin is affected.

2st degree burn: redness, pain, swelling, blistering - both the surface and inner layers of the skin are affected.

3st degree burn: browning and blackening of the skin, and sometimes its necrosis - deep tissues are affected.

4st degree burn: the respiratory tract was burned, most of the body, face, eyes, the child was unconscious.

When to call an ambulance

If the child received an extensive or deep burn.

If the burn is caused by a chemical or electrical current.

If you find it difficult to assess the severity of the burn.

ATTENTION!

You can not:

  • remove dead skin;
  • open blisters;
  • apply ice, butter, ointments not intended for the treatment of burns to the burned area;
  • apply cotton bandages or adhesive tape.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Salo from a test tube 09.06.2023

Scientists at the American Tufts University have mastered a completely new method of growing fat cells and forming them into a finished product similar to animal fat. This will allow artificial meat to be supplemented with artificial fats.

The technology for producing artificial meat promises to provide humanity with a tasty and healthy product without harming the environment and destroying animals.

Previously, biologists have already learned how to grow muscle tissue of different animal species. Some of these products have already been approved for use and are being produced for distribution to shops and restaurants. However, the authentic taste, texture, and nutritional value of meat remains incomplete without a certain amount of fat. Tests show that consumers call beef the most delicious meat, containing approximately 36% fat. Complementing dietary artificial meat will help a new method that allows you to grow adipose tissue.

To cultivate cells "in vitro", they need to be constantly fed with nutrients and oxygen. In a living organism, this happens due to the constant movement of blood through a vascular network that covers all parts of the body. It has not yet been possible to reproduce such a system under artificial conditions, so tissue is grown in tiny flat fragments.

The team of Professor David Kaplan has learned not only to obtain such pieces of adipose tissue, but also to combine them in the finished product. For experiments, scientists used adipocytes, which accumulate fat cells in mice and pigs. Having grown small samples, they were collected and mixed with alginate, as well as with mTG (microbial transglutaminase).

All these substances have been repeatedly tested and recognized as safe for use in the food industry. And for adipose tissue cells, they are a link that allows you to form a whole product from miniature flat fragments.

“Adipose tissue is predominantly cells with a minimal amount of other structural components. Therefore, we decided that if they could be linked together, then this would be enough to reproduce the taste, nutritional value and texture of natural animal fat,” the authors said. study.

The experiments confirmed the theory of scientists, and the structure of artificial fat withstood the same pressure as natural beef or pork fat. The texture, thanks to the components, turned out to be a little softer, closer to melted fat. But combinations of additives allow scientists to refine the formula and fine-tune the texture of the finished product.
