Since crime is now widespread, each person needs to be prepared to face such a danger psychologically and physically. Many underestimate themselves; meanwhile, the human body has unforeseen resources, especially when something threatens it. A large amount of adrenaline entering the blood at such a moment increases both muscular strength and the instinct of self-preservation.

How to behave when you find yourself on a dark street face to face with a criminal?

Here are the basic rules of self-defense:

1) always keep an eye on everything that happens nearby, avoid getting into all potentially dangerous situations;

2) choose the most advantageous position in which you can control the actions of the attackers, i.e. they should stand in front of you in relation to you, at worst, on the sides, but not behind;

3) when a skirmish is inevitable, one should accept it, acting with all determination;

4) to achieve success, divert the attention of the attacker, even give in to him in something, and then unexpectedly quickly and accurately hit the vulnerable spot;

5) when attacking, inflict the first and very strong blow to the strongest, in your opinion, offender, moreover, it is necessary to deceive the attackers: make a feint, swing or blow towards the weak, and attack the one you have chosen;

6) use any object as a defense weapon (keys, comb, deodorant (hairspray), umbrella, a handful of coins, shoes, bag, sand, stones, stick);

7) an unexpected meeting with a cruel and armed individual, not shy of strong expressions, in a mask that covers his face and leaves only a slit for the eyes, can lead to confusion and strong, physically fit people; strong-willed effort will allow you to overcome fear and act in cold blood;

8) try to find shelter or help; if possible, run, having estimated the distance and your own endurance before that;

9) attract the attention of passers-by and nearby residents by shouting: "Fire!"; the fear of being on fire prompts people who are usually not inclined to intervene in an extreme situation (so as not to become, thus, an undesirable witness for the criminal), look out the window;

10) act according to the circumstances, attracting the mind and ingenuity; the choice of behavior strategy is individual;

11) physical viability is a guarantee of personal security: by reducing fear, it increases the effectiveness of your countermeasures;

12) report the incident to the police as soon as possible.

A few personal defense techniques can make up the first course of self-defense, which is of value if tried out in practice. It is impossible, without having practiced, to consider yourself ready to apply these tips at the right time.

To defend themselves, a person instinctively moves his arms and legs. If we add a few tricks learned in advance to this natural behavior, then the effectiveness of protection increases.

For an attacked woman, the most effective means of defense is a kick. A quick and accurate strike to a vulnerable spot for a while can deprive the perpetrator of the response and allow the victim to flee.

The most vulnerable places on the body are the shins, knees, groin. Do not look where you want to hit, so that the enemy cannot guess your intention and deviate from the blow.

Look straight in the eyes - and hit. The front kick is fast and catches by surprise. A side kick can be directed to the shin, and then it will turn out to be painful and effective. In the case of an attack from behind, a back kick can come in handy, and this is an almost instinctive movement. Other options for a defensive strike: on the ankle with a heel, knee in the groin, especially if you are standing opposite the enemy at close range.

Once you understand your opponent's position, lean forward to keep your balance and power up your punch, aiming for the shin, knee, or groin. You can strike with your heel or toe.

It must be remembered that the goal is to defend and prepare for flight, and not to fight, so any action will do to carry out the intended. Constantly move, while screaming, fighting back, scratching.

If your hands are squeezing your throat, do not grab them, but start to disturb the enemy, striking him with legs, knees, elbows, aiming at the most sensitive places, scratching and biting.

To strike with your hand, you need to firmly squeeze your palm. It is good to accompany the blow with throaty cries, which psychologically help to strengthen the defense and get a mental charge, frightening the attacker with a manifestation of retaliatory aggression. Use other hand protection techniques: pinch in the most vulnerable places (ears, groin, testicles); scratch all open and accessible parts of the body; hit with your fingers in the eyes, with your elbow in the face, under the chin, in the groin; with the palm of your hand, strike from the full swing under the nose so that the enemy loosens the grip.

Everything must be done quickly in order to disorganize the enemy and prevent him from gathering strength.

If you are lying on the ground and the enemy kicks you, bring your knees close to your chest, cover the base of the skull with your hands, protect your ears and head from the sides with your wrists. Shout piercingly, pretending to feel unbearable pain (even if the pain is not so strong) - perhaps the attacker, satisfied with the effect, will stop beating you.

If they want to tie you up, use the trick: take a deep breath, pull your shoulders back, clasp your hands. Later, when you exhale and relax your hands, you will feel that the rope has loosened.

Strive to show courageous opposition with a good dose of anger and animal instinct; illegal strikes and any tricks are allowed.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

petapixel camera 13.08.2013

DARPA experts are assembling a prototype camera, which in the future will be a million times more capable of capturing and processing images than human vision.
DARPA has made new strides in developing camera technology capable of producing petapixel images in the future. In August 2013 and 2014, the assembly of new AWARE 2 and AWARE-10 camera prototypes will be completed: 5- and 10-gigapixel cameras that have a large field of view and the ability to simultaneously identify multiple objects. According to these parameters, they will surpass human vision by 30-50 times.

In August, experts working on behalf of the defense science agency DARPA will reach a new milestone in the development of a unique video camera capable of observing the environment with a resolution and scale unattainable by any living creature on our planet.

Work on a new camera is being carried out as part of the AWARE project by scientists and engineers from Duke University. They have already achieved significant success, in particular, the second generation of AWARE 2 cameras was created in April. This is an array of 98 14-megapixel micro-cameras with a total resolution of 1,4 gigapixels, which form a camera with a field of view of 120x40 degrees and capable of shooting at a frequency of 10 frames per give me a sec. Each micro camera can take 4384x3288 pixel resolution pictures, and the entire camera can take 63000x18000 pixel composite pictures.

The unique features of the camera are provided by its original design: the light from the lens does not fall on a flat matrix, but on the inside of the hemisphere, where miniature cameras are placed, which allows you to shoot high-resolution panoramic shots. In the future, such cameras are planned to be installed on military aircraft and robots, which will make it possible to observe a vast area and at the same time increase the scale of the selected area. In order to understand the advantage of the new technology, imagine that the AWARE camera can recognize the faces of half the people in a football stadium.

And although the angular resolution of cameras is limited by atmospheric effects, it is possible to create photo and video cameras that will take photos and videos with a zoom of up to 30-50 times. If such video cameras are used, for example, when shooting sports events, then viewers will be able to independently enlarge the part of the television picture they are interested in and watch high-resolution video. In fact, AWARE cameras cancel the concept of a change of shot - the viewer himself can choose whether to watch a panorama or a close-up.

Of course, such opportunities will require powerful communication channels capable of transmitting a huge amount of information. Also, developers are trying to replace the expensive glass lenses of AWARE cameras with cheaper plastic ones, which will reduce the weight and cost of a new type of device.
