Focus Description:

The illusionist enters the stage in a raincoat, top hat and gloves. Having removed the top hat and bowed to the audience, he puts it on his head again; takes off his gloves, folds them into a ball and takes them in his left hand. The right one again removes the cylinder and, showing it empty, throws gloves into it with the left hand; a dove immediately flies out from there (Fig. 162, A), which sits on the magician's shoulder.

The performer for the second time shows that the cylinder is completely empty, and the gloves have disappeared, and passes the empty cylinder to the assistant.

Props:

head cylinder. (Preferably a folding hat).

Secret retractable cylinder insert.

White gloves.

Live white dove.

Focus secret:

The secret of this very short, but very effective trick lies in the use of a hinged insert valve (Fig. 162, B), which is laid on the bottom of the cylinder. A live pigeon is planted on one of its sides. Having closed the bird with a folding wall, you can carefully put the cylinder on the head.

On fig. 162, B shows a cylinder in section with a dove charged in it. If you take the headgear with your hand from the side where the valve is facing and support it with your thumb, then the pigeon will not be able to fly out prematurely. Gloves are thrown into the empty compartment of the cylinder. Passing the cylinder from hand to hand, it is easy to switch the valve to the other side: release the pigeon and hide the gloves. At the same time, you need to hold the valve with your thumb so that the gloves do not fall out. The dove, on the other hand, must be slightly thrown up with the cylinder up so that it flies out. Teach the bird to sit on your shoulder in advance, to do this, try feeding it on your shoulder.

The valve insert is made from two pieces of thin cardboard. One is cut out exactly according to the shape of the bottom of the cylinder, the other is cut out in such a way that it fits exactly to the sides of the cylinder with its edges when pressed. The valve is not placed exactly in the middle of the bottom, but a little to the side to give the pigeon more space. The insert is pasted over with black matter to match the color of the cylinder lining; from a distance it is completely invisible. The cylinder itself is in motion all the time. The valve must swing completely freely in both directions. Holding the cylinder in your hands, you should not make small flickering movements with it. All gestures should be wide, smooth.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Bad mood due to bad mood 20.08.2017

A research team at the University of California, Berkeley examined the possible link between emotional acceptance and psychological health by testing more than 1 adults. The results showed that people who typically denied dark emotions or judged them very harshly felt more psychologically stressed. Conversely, those who generally "allowed" feelings such as sadness, disappointment, and resentment reported fewer symptoms of mood disorders.

In different groups, three studies were conducted - both in the laboratory and on the Internet. This took into account factors such as age, gender, socio-economic status of the subjects. According to scientists, they took into account the latter, since living in abundance can also contribute to self-acceptance.

In the first study, more than 1 subjects filled out surveys where they answered how much they agreed with, for example, the following statement: "I tell myself that I should not feel the way I feel now." Those who did not experience negative feelings about their poor condition generally felt better.

Further, in laboratory conditions, more than 150 participants assessed their emotions about life's difficulties. The same correlation was found here.

In the final study, more than 200 people reported the most difficult situations over a two-week period. When they were asked again about their mental health six months later, those who avoided negative emotions showed more symptoms of mood disorders.
