Today, in many cities and towns of the country there is a time-based payment for telephone conversations. Unfortunately, the subscriber learns about the time spent on calls only from the invoice sent. In order to be able to control accounts, I propose to make a telephone conversation duration counter from a widely used analog electromechanical clock powered by one AA (316, "finger") galvanic cell.
The counter circuit is shown in fig. one.
The base-emitter section of transistor VT1, shunted by resistor R1, is included in the telephone line break. They walk, counting the time of the conversation. As soon as the handset is hung up, the closed transistor opens the clock power circuit and stops timing.
The galvanic cell G1, which feeds the clock, is conventionally shown in the diagram outside its case. However, it is not necessary to extract it at all. Enough, as shown in Fig. 2, insert between the positive terminal of the element and the contact spring of the clock a strip of fiberglass foiled on both sides with a thickness of 1 mm or less. A conductor is soldered to the foil layer in contact with the output of the element, going to the resistor R1 and the emitter of the transistor VT1, to the opposite layer - going to the collector of the transistor.
Resistor - MLT-0,125 or other small-sized one. The transistor indicated in the diagram can be replaced by any low-power silicon p-n-p structure. Both parts can be placed in any convenient place, for example, in a telephone socket. Before connecting, do not forget to check the polarity of the voltage in the telephone line and observe it.
On the first of every month, set the clock hands to 12:00. By the end of the month, their position will show how much time they "talked" on the phone.
The call duration counter installed on the PBX works only if the handsets of both subscribers are lifted. Time spent, for example, dialing a number and waiting for an answer, is not taken into account. Therefore, the readings of the proposed meter will be overestimated. Unfortunately, it is impossible to get rid of this shortcoming by simple means.

The team of scientists built two three-dimensional models of wings: one with a microfibre, and the other without it. Using a combination of vortex modeling techniques and Fox-Williams-Gocking computational acoustics, they simulated fluid flow to accurately reproduce flight conditions. The main attention was paid to the flight gliding speed of real owls.
The results of the study showed that microfibre effectively reduces the noise level of the wing, especially at high angles of attack, without harming aerodynamics compared to wings without this feature. Scientists have identified two complementary mechanisms by which microbiome affects air flow.
First, the micro-fender breaks up vortices at the trailing edge of the wing, reducing airflow fluctuations. Secondly, it reduces the interaction between feathers at the wing edge, preventing the formation of vortices. The combination of these mechanisms improves aerodynamic properties and reduces noise levels.
This discovery has broad prospects beyond ornithology. The study suggests similar strips could be used to reduce noise in a variety of man-made structures, including drones, windmills, propellers and even flying cars.
Experts believe that a thorough understanding of these mechanisms opens the way to the development of methods for reducing noise in equipment operating in liquid media.
