Comments on the article Comments on the article

At the baby nosebleed can begin with a bruise or damage to the mucous membrane (scratches, abrasions), as well as with an increase in blood pressure. Nosebleeds can come out in hot weather due to the drying of the nasal mucosa and the rush of blood to the head during prolonged exposure to the sun. Sometimes nosebleeds occur internally: in very young children, blood can enter the throat and be swallowed. Then a sign of bleeding will be hematemesis.

If nosebleeds recur too often, a complete medical examination is necessary. Frequent and causeless bleeding from the nose can indicate various diseases.

First aid

1. Lay your baby into bed with the upper body and head elevated.

2. Insert a gauze (or cotton) flagellum soaked in hydrogen peroxide into the damaged nostril.

3. Place a handkerchief soaked in cold water on the bridge of your nose.

4. In case of profuse and non-stop bleeding, it is necessary to apply a cold compress (ice pack) to the back of the head.

5. After the bleeding stops, the baby needs to lie down a bit and avoid sudden movements and hot drinks for the next few hours.

When emergency care is needed

If bleeding cannot be stopped within 20 minutes.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Smart diaper on Intel platform 14.06.2015

Introduced in January 2014, the tiny SD card-sized Intel Edison PC built on the Intel Quark platform is used in an unusual development shown at Computex by Acer. We are talking about a smart diaper DiaperPie.

"Mind" in the form of an electronic module the size of a coin is inside an ordinary diaper and monitors the temperature of the child and the position that he takes in a dream. Of course, the sensors that the module is equipped with allow you to control the humidity and smell of methane - signs that the genitourinary and digestive systems of the child are doing their job properly.

The data that the module collects is transmitted via Bluetooth LE to an application on a mobile smartphone and to the cloud. This allows you to notify the adult in a timely manner that it is time to pay attention to the child.
