Umbilical hernia. Medical care for a child
Directory / Fundamentals of First Aid
Comments on the article
Umbilical hernia occurs when the umbilical ring does not close properly (around the attachment site of the former umbilical cord). It is discovered by the doctor in the first weeks of the baby's life, feeling the baby's belly. A slight bulge may be noticeable at the navel, especially when screaming, coughing, or straining during bowel movements, when the internal organs press on the opening. The bulge in the navel area increases slightly over time, and then by the age of 6 either disappears or begins to bother: cause pain. If the umbilical hernia has not disappeared, the child is prescribed an operation, during which the umbilical ring is closed.
When to see a doctor
Usually, a pediatrician during preventive examinations checks for the presence of a hernia, in special cases referring to a surgeon. A special visit to the doctor is not required.
How to help a child at home
Strengthen the abdominal press: bend the legs of the baby lying on his back, pressing them to the tummy, and straighten them again.
Massage the abdomen by gently moving your hand in a clockwise direction (at least 1,5 hours before or after meals).
Folk remedies
Give your child whey, and also warm the stomach with a warm whey compress, which has a lot of potassium - nutrition for the abdominal muscles.
Put an old copper coin or a smooth piece of copper on your navel as an appliqué, fix it with adhesive tape and remove it only while bathing.

Artificial leather for touch emulation
15.04.2024
In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>
Petgugu Global cat litter
15.04.2024
Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>
The attractiveness of caring men
14.04.2024
The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>
Random news from the Archive Nvidia Parker - new generation single-chip system for the automotive segment
24.08.2016
Nvidia has unveiled a next-generation single-chip system that became the basis for the Drive PX 2 automotive supercomputer.
So, the new SoC is called Parker. Now Tegra is not in the name, which looks a bit strange. Apparently, Nvidia decided to abandon the well-known brand simply because the novelty is not focused on the consumer market, but the automotive market does not care, because there are other selection criteria.
Parker is characterized by a performance of 1,5 TFLOPS. The solution is configured with two Nvidia proprietary Denver 2 processor cores, four Cortex-A57 cores, and a Pascal generation GPU with 256 CUDA cores. Moreover, two processor clusters are interconnected by a special interface, which makes it possible to call the processor of a single-chip system a coherent heterogeneous multiprocessor.
The single-chip system supports LPDDR4 RAM. The bandwidth of the memory subsystem has doubled and reached 50 GB / s. Parker also supports up to 12 cameras, which once again indicates the main market for the novelty - the automotive. Of course, the asset also has the ability to encode and decode video in 4K format at 60 fps.
Parker supports hardware virtualization with the ability to run eight virtual machines simultaneously. This will allow car manufacturers to use one Drive PX 2 system to handle a variety of tasks, including a multimedia system, driver assistance system, and more.
