With intestinal ulcers and some of its diseases, significant bleeding into the intestinal lumen. It is accompanied by general signs of blood loss, and later by the appearance of black, tarry stool.

From the dilated veins of the anus with hemorrhoids and other diseases of the rectum, it is possible to discharge unchanged blood or blood mixed with feces during bowel movements. Such bleeding is usually not profuse, but is often repeated many times.

First aid

In case of intestinal bleeding, complete rest, a supine position, and placing ice on the stomach are necessary. You should not feed the patient, give him laxatives or give him an enema.

If there is significant bleeding from the anus, it is recommended to place an ice pack on the sacral area.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Fluorescent material for accumulation of light from LED lamps 26.02.2017

A fairly massive transition from fluorescent lamps to LED sources of radiation has revealed one interesting problem. Traditional fluorescent paints and materials with the property of accumulating light and glowing after that in the dark are not well combined with LED lighting. Luminescent materials widely used on the market usually store energy when exposed to ultraviolet radiation, which is not found in the spectrum of LED lamps. Meanwhile, the demand for luminescent materials is high in many areas. For example, with the help of "luminous" paints, evacuation routes from high-rise buildings are indicated, which is critical in case of accidents.

To solve the problem and create materials with an afterglow effect in combination with LED lighting, the National Institute of Japan AIST and Tateyama Kagaku Industry undertook. The partners managed to create a material with the desired properties and a technology for applying it to a plastic (PET) substrate. This is an organometallic mixture, the composition of which is kept secret. Some rare earth material is used as the metal.

The obtained samples in combination with LED illumination (wavelength 460 nm) in the first 10 minutes are characterized by a luminescence at the level of 602 mcd/m2, which is three times more intense than in the case of commercially available luminescent materials. After four hours, the luminosity of the new material drops to 10 mcd/m2. Note that conventional materials reduce the intensity of the glow to this level already two hours after the cessation of illumination.

In the future, the developers intend to obtain a material with better properties. This can be achieved by choosing the type of activating rare earth additive and its amount. We add that the material is applied to the plastic substrate by the photoreaction method, and not in the form of mixtures with a hardener, as it is now. This provides high resistance to external adverse weather factors, including moisture ingress and high heat.
