The work of the patient's heart is controlled by palpation pulse on the palmar surface of the forearm from the side of the thumb (on the radial artery) (Fig. 75). It is necessary to learn how to find the pulse in this place and count its frequency per minute. If a healthy person has a pulse rate of 70-80 beats per minute, then in an accident victim and a patient it can change dramatically, reaching 120 or more beats per minute.

The nature of the pulse also matters: the weakness of the beats, when it is still felt, the presence of different time intervals between beats (arrhythmic pulse). The normal respiratory rate of 16-18 times per minute may vary in patients. Breath may become more frequent, become irregular, noisy. There may be a cough with sputum (mucous, purulent, blood-streaked, bloody, with a fetid odor). It is necessary to tell the doctor what kind of sputum it has, and collect it in a jar for examination.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

smart swimsuit 21.06.2015

French startup Spinali Design presented a smart swimsuit that helps its owner to avoid sunburn.

A removable and waterproof UV sensor is built into the bikini, which records the air temperature and matches it with information about the wearer, such as skin type, for example. After that, the swimsuit sends a notice that it is time to apply sunscreen. This is done using the application installed on the smartphone hostess.

The product developers themselves call their invention "bikini connecte" (bikini connecte). The company announced the creation of a smart swimsuit back in May, and it went on sale this week. To date, only the women's version of this bathing suit is available, and you can buy it for 149 euros.

According to the founder of Spinali Design, Marie Spinali (Marie Spinali), the idea to create such a bikini came to her when she saw how an unfamiliar girl was burned on the beach. “I looked at her and thought why she didn’t react in any way, why didn’t she put on cream or hide in the shade,” she said.
