Safe Operation

1. General safety requirements

1.1. Persons not younger than 18 years of age who have passed a preliminary medical examination upon admission to work, as well as:

  • induction training;
  • fire safety briefing;
  • initial briefing at the workplace;
  • electrical safety training in the workplace.

1.2. A mechanic for the repair of boiler equipment and fuel oil should;

  • undergo repeated training on labor safety at the workplace at least every three months;
  • undergo unscheduled and targeted briefings;
  • pass a knowledge test on the rules for the design and safe operation of lifting mechanisms;
  • undergo a sanitary medical examination in accordance with the order of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation No. 90 dated 14.03.96;
  • perform only the work that is part of his duties;
  • use safe working methods;
  • comply with the requirements of prohibitory, warning, indicative and prescriptive signs and, inscriptions and signals; submitted by train compilers, vehicle drivers;
  • be extremely careful in traffic areas.

1.3. A mechanic for the repair of boiler equipment and fuel oil should know:

  • the impact on a person of dangerous and harmful production factors that arise during work;
  • general arrangement of boilers and boiler equipment;
  • rules for the design and safe operation of steam and hot water boilers;
  • alarms installed on the PPS and the location of the devices for their supply;
  • rules for the design and safe operation of lifting mechanisms;
  • requirements for industrial sanitation, electrical safety and fire safety;
  • location of first aid kits;
  • internal labor regulations established at the enterprise;
  • the requirements of this instruction, instructions on fire safety measures, instructions on electrical safety;
  • appointment of personal protective equipment;
  • rules and regulations on labor protection, safety and industrial sanitation;
  • be able to provide first aid to victims, use fire extinguishing equipment, call the fire brigade in the event of a fire.

1.3. A mechanic for the repair of boiler equipment and fuel oil should be guided by the requirements:

  • this instruction;
  • rules for the design and safe operation of steam and hot water boilers;
  • rules on labor protection during the operation of tank farms and gas stations.

1.4. During work, the following hazards may affect the mechanic for the repair of boiler equipment and fuel oil facilities:

  • objects and tools falling from a height;
  • increased pressure of steam and hot water;
  • high or low temperature;
  • increased humidity and air mobility of the working area;
  • increased levels of noise and vibration;
  • moving vehicles, mechanisms, rolling stock;
  • increased voltage in the electrical circuit, the closure of which can pass through the human body;
  • insufficient lighting at night.

1.5. A mechanic for the repair of boiler equipment and fuel oil should use the following PPE: cotton suit, combined gloves, boots, rubberized apron, goggles, safety belt.

1.6. A mechanic for the repair of boiler equipment and fuel oil facilities must comply with the following fire safety requirements:

  • smoking only in designated areas;
  • do not approach with an open fire to a gas welding machine, gas cylinders of flammable liquids, combustible liquids and spray booths;
  • do not touch oxygen cylinders with hands contaminated with oil;
  • know and be able to use primary fire extinguishing equipment.

1.7. Personal clothing and overalls must be stored separately in lockers and dressing rooms. It is prohibited to take work clothes outside the enterprise.

1.8. Eating should only be in canteens, buffets or specially designated rooms with appropriate equipment. Before eating, wash your hands thoroughly with soap

1.9. When leaving the track from the heating room, as well as from buildings that impair the visibility of the track, you must first make sure that there is no train moving along it.

1.10. For non-compliance with the safety requirements set forth in this manual, the mechanic is responsible in accordance with applicable law.

2. Safety requirements before starting work

2.1. Before starting work, a mechanic for the repair of boiler equipment and fuel oil should:

  • to put on overalls and special footwear according to the norms, put them in order;
  • tuck the loose ends of the clothes so that they do not hang down;
  • establish the sequence of operations;
  • inspect your workplace, check the condition of racks and pallets;
  • check the availability and serviceability of tools, measuring instruments, templates, as well as their presence on racks and repair installations of spare parts and materials;
  • check the operation of the electric hoist, the serviceability of the limit switches;
  • check the availability of fire fighting equipment;
  • check the serviceability of ladders, bridges, ensure their reliable installation;
  • make sure the illumination of workplaces is reliable.

3. Safety requirements during work

3.1. Each boiler and its equipment must have technical passports. Non-standard equipment must have circuit diagrams. New or installed equipment should be put into operation only after it has been accepted by a commission chaired by the chief or chief engineer.

3.2. Repair and testing of boilers and its equipment must be carried out in accordance with the requirements of the current repair and maintenance documentation of the manufacturer, the rules for the design and safe operation of steam and hot water boilers, as well as in accordance with the scheduled preventive maintenance schedule.

3.3. When inspecting the boiler, portable lamps with a voltage of 12 volts or electric storage lamps should be used.

3.4. During internal inspection, cleaning or repair of steam or hot water boilers, they must be stopped, cooled down and emptied, securely disconnected with plugs with tails for steam, water, fuel, through the periodic blowdown line,

3.5. All hatches, manholes of the boiler while the worker is there must be open and the entire boiler must be continuously ventilated.

3.6. Internal inspection, cleaning or repair of the boiler must be carried out by at least two employees, one of whom must be outside and without fail monitor the condition of the worker inside.

3.7. Work inside the boiler must be carried out only with the permission of the person responsible for the good condition and safe operation, according to the work permit.

3.8. Warning posters must be posted on a boiler that is being repaired or cleaned. Remove the poster only with the permission of the person in charge.

3.9. Repair and cleaning of pressurized boiler equipment is prohibited.

3.10. When using a portable electrified tool, use dielectric gloves and rubber mats.

3.11. When removing or installing parts and assemblies of the boiler installation, use the tools and devices provided for this type of work.

3.12. Workplaces and passages to them should be kept clean, not allowing them to be cluttered with spare parts removed from the compressor.

3.13. Cleaning material must be stored in metal boxes with tight-fitting lids.

3.14. Smoking and the use of open flames in the premises of oil pumping stations is prohibited.

3.15. Spilled or leaking fuel oil due to a density violation should be immediately removed, where the fuel oil was spilled, and wiped dry.

3.16. At the fuel oil pipelines at the outlet and inlet to the boiler room, shut-off valves with an electric drive and with local control should be installed and signs should be posted: "Close in case of fire."

3.17. It is forbidden to warm the frozen parts of the fuel oil economy (fittings, pipes, tanks) with fire.

3.18. Before using the ladders, check the presence of an inventory number on their bowstrings, the date of the next test, the presence of tips and ties, and the absence of chips.

3.19. When working on a ladder, a second worker in a protective helmet must be below, insuring the worker working on the ladder.

3.20. It is forbidden to allow women to clean the heating surfaces in the furnace and gas ducts.

3.21. After cleaning and repairing parts or assemblies of the boiler plant, make sure that they do not contain any foreign objects.

3.22. Repair work in the boiler with the use of open fire must be carried out subject to fire prevention measures under the supervision of a responsible person in the presence of a work permit.

3.23. Work in the drums of the boiler can be performed at a temperature not exceeding 45 degrees Celsius.

4. Safety requirements in emergency situations

4.1. When repairing boiler plants in the depot, a fire may occur leading to a fire.

4.2. In the event of an emergency, the locksmith is obliged to stop work, immediately inform the foreman and then follow his commands.

4.3. When eliminating an emergency, it is necessary to act in accordance with the approved plan for eliminating accidents.

4.4. When sunbathing in the fuel oil economy, it is necessary:

  • immediately inform the fire brigade, notify the management;
  • start extinguishing the fire with available means;
  • organize the evacuation of people;
  • organize a meeting with the fire brigade.

4.5. In the event of an electrical fire, use only carbon dioxide fire extinguishers. or powder.

4.6. In case of injury or illness, the mechanic for the repair of technological installations must stop working, notify the master and contact the first-aid post.

5. Safety requirements at the end of work

5.1. At the end of the work, the locksmith must;

  • tidy up the workplace;
  • fold the tool, inventory and fixtures in a specially designated place;
  • collect used cleaning material in metal boxes with a tight-fitting lid;
  • take off your overalls and put them in the dressing room closet.

5.2. Wash contaminated clothing if necessary.

5.3. After work or in cases of contamination of body parts, take a shower.

5.4. The locksmith must report all violations of the production process to the senior acceptance officer.

Upgrading a perovskite cell with a heat-resistant organic layer 23.03.2024

A team of scientists from KAUST University in Saudi Arabia has made significant progress in the field of perovskite photovoltaic technology by creating a new monolayer of molecules with phosphonic acid as an organic layer for electron transport. This innovative approach is becoming key for future flexible perovskite solar cells due to its high efficiency and thermal stability.

Using non-fullerene semiconductors based on anthraquinone (AQ) and naphthalene diimide (NDI) molecules, the scientists created a layer that forms covalent bonds with the indium tin oxide surface, enabling efficient interaction with the perovskite material. Thermogravimetric analysis showed that these modified molecules have high thermal stability, retaining 95% of their mass at high temperatures, reaching 356°C for AQ and 268°C for NDI.

The solar cell, created on a glass substrate, has a complex structure including a Spiro-OMeTAD hole transport layer, a molybdenum oxide layer and silver contacts. Under standard lighting, the cell achieves a high power conversion efficiency of 21,5%, setting a new standard for perovskite photovoltaic cells with organic layers for electron transport.

In addition, the device has excellent electrical characteristics: open circuit voltage is 1,13 V, short circuit current density is 24,7 mA/cm2, and duty cycle is 77%. Interestingly, the cell stability remains at 90% of initial performance even after 1 hours of operation at 000°C.

The achievement is part of a global effort to improve solar technology, highlighted by recent developments in South Korea, including a black perovskite photovoltaic cell with a record solar energy conversion efficiency of 12,7% for flexible quantum dot cells.
