Now the military will not only serve, but also generate energy. The American company Lockheed Martin has collaborated with a Canadian shoe manufacturer to develop "kinetic boots"

The novelty will allow you to generate energy on the go, which will bring a lot of convenience and allow you to charge devices and walkie-talkies at this time. Shoes weigh 80 g more than regular shoes. This is much less than the solar panels and batteries that soldiers use now.

Marines carry about 7kg of batteries to charge all their devices while outside the barracks. The weight of the battery causes soldiers to tire more quickly.

It is enough to walk in "kinetic boots" for one hour, and the boots will generate energy sufficient for three recharges of the iPhone 5.

Spin transistors will increase the speed of computers a million times 20.07.2012

A group of American researchers from Northwestern University has developed a family of completely new logic networks that use magnetic semiconductor devices instead of conventional transistors. Scientists claim that this could increase the power of future computers by a million times. In other words, we are talking about spintronics, which, instead of the charge of an electron, uses its other characteristic - spin. Spintronics has long been predicted to replace electronics, but logical spin networks have not yet been developed.

As you know, Moore's empirical law states that approximately every two years the number of transistors in a microchip doubles. This rule has been working since the fifties of the last century, but now it has begun to fail, since transistors have almost exhausted their possibilities in terms of further miniaturization. One of the main obstacles here is the heat dissipation of transistors - the more of them in the microchip, the more it heats up. Therefore, the use of today's transistors in the computers of the future is not possible.

In 2010, the same group created and then patented the so-called magnetoresistive bipolar spin transistors, and now they have learned how to make new logical networks out of them.

“We have developed a device based on logic networks capable of performing all the necessary operations of Boolean logic,” says Professor Walter Murphy, one of the authors of the development. “Our spintronic logic is able to successfully perform all the operations that are required today from circuits with conventional transistors, but with fewer elements and much greater performance, he says that the "spin logic networks" they created have the potential to lead to computers that are a million times more efficient than those currently on the market. this idea will take them about ten years.
