Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. The internet can help you lose weight 01.03.2023

Today, you will not surprise anyone with fitness gadgets and smartphones, but there are very, very few rigorous studies on the topic of helping devices to lose weight. Researchers from the University of Tsukuba have shown that the use of gadgets and web applications can help in the fight against excess weight.

It is unlikely that someone needs to explain the harm of excess weight to health and life expectancy. Every extra kilogram turns into a risk of type XNUMX diabetes, cardiovascular disease, hypertension and many other troubles. Experts have created many working methods to combat obesity.

In recent years, there has been a surge of activity in the field of solutions using web applications and gadgets. However, the degree of their impact has not been strictly analyzed, which does not allow us to identify the most effective tools for solving the problems of gaining excess weight. Therefore, Japanese scientists decided to create a base for such research.

Experts evaluated the effectiveness of using web applications to promote weight loss and lifestyle changes in overweight and obese people. To do this, the scientists conducted a systematic review of publications on the topic and selected 1466 articles from two databases of medical publications for a thorough analysis. Each of the selected papers was reviewed for the quality of evidence collection, taking into account the risk of bias. Of this set of articles, 97 were analyzed qualitatively (in relative terms, such as interviews or patient diaries) and 51 quantitatively (with figures in hand).

Qualitative analysis showed that studies using components such as social support, self-management of behavior and outcome (weight), goal setting for behavior development, information about health consequences, and goal setting for achievement confirmed their high effectiveness in reducing patients' weight.

At the same time, the researchers found an unfortunate trend that as the duration of use of web tools increased, the effectiveness of the methods decreased, but this also happens with conventional methods.

Quantitative analysis of publications also showed the effectiveness of web-based tools such as user-tailored personalized information and e-consultation. But in the case of online chats, as it turned out, this tool was ineffective. At the same time, the use of smartphones for personal remote consultations with specialists had a positive impact on weight loss.

Based on the data obtained, the researchers conclude that the Internet and specialized web tools can help people lose weight, but scientists and doctors do not yet know about the best way to achieve this goal. This area requires new scientific work.
