Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Self-destructing Overdrive USB flash drive 20.02.2024

Interrupt Labs from the UK has introduced a new technological development called Overdrive USB, which will be of interest to those who pay great attention to data security.

Overdrive USB is a USB flash drive without built-in hardware encryption, making it legal for use in countries where such features may be prohibited. Despite this, the device has several unique features that distinguish it from other analogues on the market.

First, to access the data on the flash drive, you need to insert it into the slot three times. Otherwise, the computer will recognize the device as damaged.

In addition, Overdrive USB has a self-destruct function. It is capable of increasing the voltage on the main chip, causing a sharp increase in temperature to 100 °C and above. However, this is not enough to completely destroy information. Users will have to use a flammable substance for this function.

The device is available to pre-order on crowdfunding platform Crowd Supply for just $69. Deliveries are scheduled for August 2024.

Overdrive USB is an industry-leading solution for secure data storage, providing unique access and security mechanisms that make it an attractive choice for users who value privacy and security of their information.
