Safe Operation

1. General requirements for labor protection

1.1. General safety requirements are set out in the Instruction "General safety requirements for professions and types of work in furniture production".

1.2. Characteristics of dangerous and harmful production factors

1.2.1. Moving machines and mechanisms, moving parts of production equipment, moving products, blanks, materials.

Sources of factors: loading device, conveyors; hoses, hose fastenings.

Effect of factor: possibility of contact with moving parts of equipment.

1.2.2. Increased dust and gas contamination of the air in the working area.

Sources of factors: harmful fumes of toxic substances contained in paints and varnishes.

Effect of the factor: harmful effects on the eyes, skin of the hands and other parts of the body.

1.2.3. Increased levels of static electricity.

Sources of the factor: absence or malfunction of grounding devices of the paint-filling machine tray, pulleys, flexible hoses for draining and filling paint and varnish materials, pipelines for supplying paint and varnish materials.

Action factor: harmful effects on the body of the worker.

1.2.4. Explosion and fire hazard.

Sources of factors: violation of fire safety requirements; formation of flammable concentrations; sparking

Action of the factor: harmful effect on the body of the worker.

1.3. Personal protective equipment: cotton robe; cotton apron with bib; respirator; goggles with indirect ventilation; antistatic shoes; technical rubber gloves.

1.4. If varnish or its components come into contact with your eyes, rinse your eyes with a stream of clean water and seek medical attention.

2. Safety requirements before starting work

2.1. Check the serviceability of the fences; boot devices; roller conveyors; pendant hooks; drying chambers, varnish pumps, baths and tanks of varnish-filling machines; pumps, hoses, hose fastenings; ventilation; electrical equipment, grounding devices; starting devices.

2.2. Check the operation of the ventilation of paint sprayers, drying chambers, and the reliability of the paint blower cover.

3. Safety requirements during work

3.1. Do not adjust the conveyor belt, clean it or repair it while the line is operating.

3.2. Do not alternately work on the line with nitrocellulose and polyester varnishes. When switching from polyester varnishes to nitrocellulose varnishes and vice versa, all equipment must be thoroughly cleaned. When working with polyester varnish initiator, do not allow it to come into contact with chemicals, steel objects, or become contaminated.

3.3. It is not allowed to work in clothes made of synthetic fabrics.

3.4. Make sure that the tanks with the working compositions of finishing materials are tightly closed during setup and repair of the line. Cover varnish and its components spilled on the floor with sand, collect them using non-ferrous metal devices and take them to a specially designated place. Wash the floor thoroughly with water and soap.

4. Safety requirements in emergency situations

4.1. Possible emergencies:

  • sudden cessation of exhaust ventilation and accidental spark formation, which can lead to an explosion;
  • accidental spill of varnish or its components in large quantities, which can lead to a significant excess of the maximum permissible concentration of harmful substances in the air of the work area.

4.2. Actions in an emergency:

  • immediately turn off the line and open the workshop transoms for natural ventilation;
  • Clean up spilled varnish and its components using respirators or gas masks with local and general ventilation turned on.

5. Safety requirements at the end of work

5.1. Stop line.

5.2. Clean and rinse the conveyor, rollers, machine head and other parts of the line.

It is not allowed to wash heads with different components of polyester varnish with the same acetone.

Cleaning of the finishing and drying equipment of the line should be done with a non-sparking non-ferrous metal tool.

5.3. Place the rags used during work and when cleaning in a special box and take it out into the yard to a specially designated place.

5.4. Draining the solvent into the sewer is not permitted.

5.5. The use of solvent for handwashing is not permitted.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Ecological production of rare earth elements from waste 17.02.2022

Rare earth elements (REEs) are extremely important for the consumer electronics, chemical and automotive industries. Based on Nd, Y, Sm, Er, Eu with Fe-B, alloys with record magnetic properties are obtained, so they are used in engines for electric vehicles and hybrids. Others are needed to create components for smartphones, hard drives, flat screens, etc.

Flash Joule heating technology was developed several years ago to produce graphene from any solid carbon source, and is now being applied to three sources of rare earth elements: coal fly ash, bauxite residues, and electronic waste. But the industrial extraction of rare earths is associated with leaching due to the use of acid, which is harmful to the environment.

A group of scientists from the American Rice University has developed a method for obtaining REE from waste efficiently and with a minimum of acid. To do this, fly ash and other materials, combined with soot, were placed in a quartz tube. Then an electric current was passed through it, heating up to 3 thousand degrees Celsius in a second. This process allowed the waste to be converted into highly soluble "activated REE" - the small balls in the main photo. The work of scientists was published in the journal Science Advances.

Industrial processes use 15 molar concentrations of nitric acid to recover materials, while Rice University researchers use 0,1 molar concentrations of hydrochloric acid to extract materials.
