OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH
Occupational safety instructions for machine operators on knotting and winding machines and machines engaged in the manufacture of corner springs. Full document Occupational Safety and Health / Standard instructions for labor protection Safe Operation 1. General requirements for labor protection 1.1. General safety requirements are set out in the Instruction "General safety requirements for professions and types of work in furniture production". 1.2. Hazardous production factors: moving machines and mechanisms, moving parts of production equipment, moving products, workpieces, materials. Sources of factors: rotating parts of the machine, workpiece feed mechanisms, sharp ends of the wire. Effect of factors: possible contact of the worker’s hands with rotating parts of the machine, workpiece feed mechanisms and sharp ends of the wire and injury to the hands, eyes and other parts of the body. 1.3. Personal protective equipment: cotton suit; chrome boots with leather soles; combined mittens; safety glasses. 2. Safety requirements before starting work 2.1. Verify:
2.2. Check the presence and serviceability of the manual mechanism (pliers, chisels, etc.). 2.3. When lubricating mechanisms, use oilers. 3. Safety requirements during work 3.1. Install the wire coil on the turntable or drum using mechanisms, without exceeding the load established for lifting equipment. 3.2. Sling the coil of wire using special clamping devices. The coil is released from the mooring devices only after it is securely installed on the turntable. 3.3. Before installing the wire coil, make sure there are no protruding ends of the wire. 3.4. After freeing the coil from the ties, tuck the end of the wire inside the coil, preventing it from hanging from the drum during operation. 3.5. Be careful: when threading wire into the straightening device; when releasing a stuck end of a wire or spring from the machine. Release is carried out after stopping the machine with a special tool (pincers, pliers, hook). 3.6. Monitor the unwinding of the last turns of wire from the drum, taking precautions (loosen the feed rollers before the end of the wire passes into the machine). 3.7. Do not allow the end of the wire to enter the machine while winding up the last centimeters of wire. 3.8. Be careful when inserting the wire into the machine to zigzag it and bend it at a 90° angle. 3.9. When cutting or biting wire using pliers, chisels and other tools, wear closed-type safety glasses. 3.10. Transportation and lifting of coils of wire should only be done by mechanization. 3.11. To avoid the formation of burrs on the manufactured springs, causing cuts to the hands, it is not allowed to use tools with blunt cutting edges. 3.12. Place the manufactured springs in special boxes, which are placed on racks and stacks. The height of the stack should not exceed 1 m from the floor level. 4. Safety requirements in emergency situations 4.1. Turn off equipment. 4.2. Post a table about the malfunction of the machine or equipment and report this to the direct management. 4.3. In the event of a fire or extinguishing a flame, use a nearby fire extinguisher. 4.4. The victim or bystander must notify the appropriate work manager of each accident or poisoning. 4.5. The worker must be able to provide first aid. Such assistance is provided immediately, directly at the scene and in the following sequence: first you need to eliminate the energy source of injury (switch off the engine, stop the mechanism, remove the victim from under the car, a heavy object, etc.). Assistance should begin with the most significant that threatens life or health (in case of severe bleeding, apply a tourniquet, and then bandage the wound; if a closed fracture is suspected, apply a splint; with open fractures, first bandage the wound and then apply a splint; in case of burns, apply a dry bandage ; in case of frostbite, gently rub the affected area using soft or fluffy tissues). If spinal injury is suspected, transport the victim only in the supine position on a rigid base. 4.6. After providing first aid, the victim should be sent to the nearest medical facility. 5. Safety requirements at the end of work 5.1. Turn off equipment. Wait for it to come to a complete stop. Tidy up the workplace: remove tools, fixtures; clean the machine from dirt and dust; wipe and lubricate the rubbing parts of the machine; neatly fold the finished parts and the remaining material. 5.2. Cleaning of wood waste (sawdust, shavings, dust) from the surface of the equipment, as well as from overalls, is carried out with a brush, sweep or using vacuum cleaners. It is unacceptable to blow the machine and clothes with compressed air. 5.3. Rags used during work and when cleaning, put the rags in a special metal box with a closing lid and take it outside the workshop to a specially designated place. 5.4. Wash hands with warm water and soap. 5.5. Report all noticed shortcomings in the operation of the equipment to the shift worker or foreman.
