With a variable load schedule, it may be cost-effective to install two (rarely more than two) transformers at the substation, which operate on a common power grid. With a small network load, one transformer operates, and with an increase in electricity consumption, another is connected in parallel

Parallel operation of transformers is possible subject to the following requirements:

1. Rated primary and secondary voltages are equal;

2. Transformers have the same winding connection groups;

3. The short circuit voltages of the transformers are equal;

4. The ratio of rated power of transformers does not exceed 3:1.

If the first and second requirements are not met, large circulating currents appear in the secondary winding circuit, which cause unnecessary heating of the windings and power losses.

If the third and fourth requirements are not met, the transformers will be unevenly loaded, therefore, parallel operation will be impossible.

When installing a transformer for parallel operation with another, it is phased, that is, phases of the same name are determined at low voltage (LV), including a higher voltage winding in the network.

First, the ends of the low voltage (LV) windings are determined in pairs, between which there is no difference in voltage. Then the voltage is measured between each end of one phased side and two opposite ends of the other side (six measurements in total). These voltages must also be the same.

With a secondary winding voltage of up to 380 V, a voltmeter or two series-connected lamps rated for phase voltage are used for phasing.

To obtain a closed electrical circuit, the neutral points of the secondary windings are connected. For transformers without a grounded neutral, two terminals of the same name are connected.

High voltage windings are phased using voltage transformers.

Computer games are becoming an increasingly popular form of entertainment among teenagers, but the associated risk of gaming addiction remains a significant problem. American scientists conducted a study to determine the main factors contributing to this addiction and offer recommendations for its prevention. Over the course of six years, 385 teenagers were followed to find out what factors may predispose them to gambling addiction. The results showed that 90% of study participants were not at risk of addiction, while 10% became gambling addicts. Electric car as a backup power source in the house 09.03.2022

American General Motors Co. launches a pilot project where the company's electric vehicles can be used as backup power sources in customers' homes.

The project will be implemented jointly with Pacific Gas and Electric Company, the key operating company of the California generating PG&E Corporation.

The first tests are planned to be carried out closer to the summer, larger ones - by the end of this year. It is assumed that electricity from a charged electric car will be transferred to the house automatically using special software and data transfer protocols.

PG&E CEO Patty Poppy said that the ability to use electric vehicles as a backup power source will be a significant advantage, as well as help in the fight against climate change.

A similar project is currently underway by Ford Motor and Sunrun Inc. The latter is one of the leaders in the US solar energy market.

The launch of the experiment is scheduled for this spring.
