4.5. The worker must be able to provide first aid. Such assistance is provided immediately, directly at the scene and in the following sequence: first you need to eliminate the energy source of injury (switch off the engine, stop the mechanism, remove the victim from under the car, a heavy object, etc.).

Assistance should begin with the most significant that threatens life or health (in case of severe bleeding, apply a tourniquet, and then bandage the wound; if a closed fracture is suspected, apply a splint; with open fractures, first bandage the wound and then apply a splint; in case of burns, apply a dry bandage ; in case of frostbite, gently rub the affected area using soft or fluffy tissues). If spinal injury is suspected, transport the victim only in the supine position on a rigid base.

4.6. After providing first aid, the victim should be sent to the nearest medical facility.

5. Safety requirements at the end of work

5.1. Turn off equipment. Wait for it to come to a complete stop. Tidy up the workplace; remove tools, fixtures; clean the machine from dirt and dust; wipe and lubricate the rubbing parts of the machine; neatly fold the finished parts and the remaining material.

5.2. Cleaning of wood waste (sawdust, shavings, dust) from the surface of the equipment, as well as from overalls, is carried out with a brush, sweep or using vacuum cleaners.

It is unacceptable to blow the machine and clothes with compressed air.

5.3. Rags used during work and when cleaning, put the rags in a special metal box with a closing lid and take it outside the workshop to a specially designated place.

5.4. Wash hands with warm water and soap.

5.5. Report all noticed shortcomings in the operation of the equipment to the shift worker or foreman.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Silver nanothreads keep you warm 09.01.2015

If we feel that we are cold, it means that the body is losing heat faster than our body can produce it. Therefore, at night we cover ourselves with a blanket, and in winter, in order not to freeze, we put on warm clothes. From the point of view of physics, a woolen sweater or a down jacket cannot warm - they only insulate the body from the external environment. As a result, the heat generated by the body heats the person himself, and not the environment.

It is estimated that on average the human body produces 187 watts of heat, of which approximately 24 watts is lost due to convection, and the remaining 163 watts are thermal radiation. The difference between convection and radiation is easy to understand with this example: when we breathe warm air on our frozen hands, convection heat transfer occurs, and if we extend the same hands closer to a burning fireplace, then infrared radiation warms them. Ordinary clothing prevents convection well, but protects against losses through radiation poorly. And this means that even in the warmest jacket we will still cool down, standing in the cold.

This order of things did not suit the researchers from Stanford, who, armed with knowledge of physics and nanotechnology, undertook to create the warmest clothes. The main challenge was to make a material that could effectively reflect the infrared rays emitted by the human body. Ordinary aluminum foil would do an excellent job of this - it effectively reflects heat radiation. But the material, in addition to keeping warm, must be permeable to moisture - clothes need to "breathe". Physically, it must delay infrared radiation, but at the same time let water vapor molecules through.

For these purposes, a layer of silver nanowires was deposited on an ordinary fabric. The threads form a mesh structure with a pore size of about 200-300 nm, which is about 250 times smaller than the diameter of a human hair. The wavelength of human thermal radiation is approximately 9 microns, so such rays are completely reflected from the nanogrid. At the same time, the pore diameter is sufficient for water molecules to freely pass through them - their size is about 0,2 nm. Another remarkable feature of this material is its conductivity for electricity. If current is applied to clothing coated with silver nanofilaments, it will heat up. To do this, you do not need to connect the sweater to the outlet and make it look like an electric chair, it is enough to use a voltage of less than one volt - absolutely safe for the body.

The natural question is how much silver will be used to make such a material and how strong will such a coating be? It takes about 0,1 gram of silver to make one square meter of silver nano-coated cotton fabric, which does not qualify the resulting clothing as jewelry. The creators of the material tested the stability of their development. It turned out that the fabric with silver nanothreads does not lose its properties after several washing cycles. In addition, silver has an antibacterial effect, which prolongs the life of the fabric.
