This instruction provides for the basic requirements for organizing and conducting the safe work of pumping unit operators at oil product supply enterprises. 1.2. When performing his duties, in addition to the requirements set forth in this manual, the driver should comply with the requirements of the "Instructions for labor safety in pumping stations", and when pumping leaded gasoline, in addition, the requirements of the "Instructions for labor protection when working with leaded gasoline". 1.3. The operator of pumping units may be exposed to toxic substances, elevated temperatures, electric current, and vibration. 1.4. Persons at least 18 years of age who have passed a medical examination, theoretical and practical training, tested knowledge of labor safety requirements in the prescribed manner and received permission to work independently are allowed to work as a pumping unit operator. 1.5. The driver of pumping units must be provided with overalls and safety shoes in accordance with applicable standards:
1.6. The driver must know well and strictly comply with the requirements for labor safety, fire safety, and industrial sanitation. 1.7. The driver must be able to use primary fire extinguishing equipment, know their location and monitor their serviceability. The pump room should have fire extinguishers and a box of dry sand. It is forbidden to use fire equipment for other purposes. In pump rooms, a tool made of a material that excludes sparking should be used. The tool must be correct. 1.8. Storage of lubricants in pump rooms is allowed in a specified place in quantities not exceeding the daily requirement. Lubricants should be stored in special metal or plastic containers with tightly closed lids. Do not store flammable liquids in the pump room. 1.9. For local lighting or in the absence of electricity, the driver should use a portable battery lamp in an explosion-proof design with a voltage of not more than 12 V, which must be turned on and off outside the pump room. It is forbidden to use open flame sources for this purpose. 1.10. Smoking and eating is allowed only in places specially designated for this purpose. 2. Safety requirements before starting work 2.1. Wear the prescribed clothing and footwear. Overalls must be buttoned up. 2.2. Familiarize yourself with the entries in the operation log of pumping units. 2.3. When accepting a shift, the driver is obliged to: check the serviceability of the process equipment, grounding, the availability and serviceability of fire fighting equipment, the availability of personal protective equipment, means of degassing spilled leaded gasoline, check the operation of ventilation systems, electrical equipment. 2.4. 30 minutes before starting the pumps, turn on the exhaust ventilation and ventilate the pump room. Starting the pumps into operation with faulty or switched off ventilation is prohibited. 2.5. Before starting the pump, it is necessary to make an external inspection of it and the drive. It is necessary to make sure that the prescribed control and measuring devices are available and that they are in good working order. All open and accessible moving parts of the pump unit must be protected by fixed guards. 3. Safety requirements during work 3.1. During the operation of the pumping unit, it is necessary:

The used cleaning material should be placed in a metal box with a lockable lid, which should be emptied daily. Contaminated cleaning material should be taken to a landfill or incinerated in a designated area. 4. Safety requirements in emergency situations 4.1. In the event of an emergency, the driver must act in accordance with the emergency response plan. 4.2. In the event of a fire in the pumping station, the driver must turn off the electricity, close the valves on the input and output lines of the pumps, call the fire brigade, report the incident to the management of the enterprise, and take measures to extinguish the fire. 4.3. In case of detection of any malfunction that violates the normal operation of the pump, it must be stopped. All noticed shortcomings should be recorded in the operation log of pumping units, and the management of the enterprise (or shift supervisor) should be notified. It is forbidden to start the pump until all faults have been eliminated. 4.4. In the event of a sudden power outage, the pumping unit operator must immediately disconnect the pump motors from the mains, and then close the valves on the suction and pressure pipelines of the pumps. 4.5. In the event of an accident, the driver is obliged to provide the victim with first aid, if necessary, call an ambulance, inform his immediate supervisor and keep the situation at the workplace unchanged until the investigation, if it does not pose a threat to workers and does not lead to an accident. 5. Safety requirements at the end of work 5.1. Hand over duty to a shift driver with an entry in the operation log of pumping units about all the shortcomings, malfunctions, instructions, orders of the management. It is forbidden to leave the workplace before the arrival of the shift. In case of non-arrival of the shift driver, notify the management or the shift supervisor. 5.2. The driver must put his workplace in order, change clothes. Overalls and footwear should be stored separately from personal clothing. 5.3. At the end of work, take a warm shower, wash your face and hands thoroughly with warm water and soap.
