2.8. Check the strength of the attachment and the correct position of the handbrake. The gap between the handpiece and the abrasive wheel must be less than half the thickness of the part being sharpened (attacked), but not more than 3 mm, and the handpiece plane must be on a horizontal plane passing through the center of the circle or slightly higher (10 mm).

2.9. Check the correct installation of the protective transparent screen, install it in a position convenient for work, and in the absence of it, be sure to wear glasses.

2.10. Check the integrity of the ground wire.

3. Safety requirements when performing work

3.1. Before switching on the machine, make sure that its start-up does not create a danger.

3.2. Before starting work, the wheel mounted on the machine must be subjected to short-term idle rotation at working speed for:

  • circles with a diameter of up to 400 mm - at least 2 minutes;
  • circles with a diameter of over 400 mm - at least 5 minutes.

3.3. Feed the workpiece to the abrasive wheel smoothly, without jerks and sharp pressure.

3.4. Protect the circle from bumps and shocks. When processing parts, it is forbidden to use levers to increase the pressure on the circle.

3.5. Do not touch the grinding wheel with your hands until it comes to a complete stop.

3.6. It is forbidden to use the side (end) surfaces of the circle if the circle is not intended for this type of work.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Coyotes will be fed chocolate 10.08.2008

Chocolate is not poisonous to humans. But some substances contained in it, the so-called methylxanthines (these include caffeine, theobromine and theophylline), are poisonous to many animals. For example, for a dog the size of a German shepherd, a lethal dose can be 240 grams of dark chocolate (for an adult - 40 kilograms).

Considering that relatives of dogs are also sensitive to methylxanthines, the American chemist John Johnston proposed poisoning coyotes with chocolate. These canine predators slaughter livestock and cause $44 million in damage to the US economy each year. After studying the toxicity of different types of chocolate, Johnston still decided to limit himself to two representatives of methyl-xanthines - caffeine and theobromine, especially since they can be synthesized chemically, and not obtained from expensive cocoa beans.

The mixture is currently undergoing field trials. By the way, spraying the garden with a caffeine solution kills slugs, and cocoa bean extract kills the bacteria that causes stomach ulcers and inhibits the growth of pathogenic strains of E. coli.
