Safe Operation

1. General safety requirements

1.1. Individuals at least 18 years of age who have been instructed in labor protection, a medical examination and have no contraindications for health reasons are allowed to work independently on washing clothes.

1.2. Employees must comply with the internal labor regulations, established work and rest regimes.

1.3. When working on washing clothes, the following hazardous and harmful production factors may be exposed to workers:

thermal burns with hot water or steam;
hand injury by a drum of a washing machine or centrifuge;
electric shock in the absence of grounding of the body of the washing machine and the dielectric mat;
damage to the hands and respiratory organs by harmful chemicals in detergents or the occurrence of allergic reactions;
fall injuries on wet, slippery floors.

1.4. When washing clothes, the following overalls should be used: an oilcloth apron with a bib, a scarf, rubber boots, rubber gloves. On the floor near the washing machine there should be a wooden grate with a dielectric mat.

1.5. The room for washing clothes should be equipped with supply and exhaust ventilation.

1.6. In the laundry room there should be a first aid kit with a set of necessary medicines for first aid in case of injuries.

1.7. Employees are required to comply with fire safety rules, know the location of primary fire extinguishing equipment. There should be a carbon dioxide or powder fire extinguisher in the laundry room.

1.8. In the event of an accident, the victim or eyewitness of the accident is obliged to inform the administration of the institution. If the equipment malfunctions, stop work and inform the administration of the institution.

1.9. In the process of work, observe the rules for wearing overalls, using personal and collective protective equipment, observe the rules of personal hygiene, and keep the workplace clean.

1.10. Persons who have committed non-fulfillment or violation of labor protection instructions are subject to disciplinary liability in accordance with the internal labor regulations and. if necessary, they are subjected to an extraordinary test of knowledge of the norms and rules of labor protection.

2. Safety requirements before starting work

2.1. Put on overalls, tuck your hair under a scarf. Make sure that there is a wooden grate with a dielectric mat on the floor near the washing machine.

2.2. Check the presence and serviceability of the guards of the rotating parts of the machines, the reliability of the connection of the protective earth to the body of the washing machine, as well as to the bodies of metal baths for soaking laundry.

2.3. Check the correct operation of the washing machine by turning it on for a short time.

2.4. Turn on the supply and exhaust ventilation.

3. Safety requirements during work

3.1. Do not overload the washing machine with laundry. The weight of the loaded linen should not exceed the norm specified in the passport for the machine.

3.2. When working with detergents, hands should be protected with rubber gloves, and respiratory organs with a gauze bandage.

3.3. Close the drum (tank) cover before starting the washing machine.

3.4. Do not touch the rotating parts of the washing machine or centrifuge with your hands while they are in operation.

3.5. When working with a washing machine, stand on a wooden grate, on which there should be a dielectric mat.

3.6. At the end of washing, in order to avoid burns to the hands, unload the laundry from the drum (tank) using wooden tongs.

3.7. When working on the centrifuge, lay the laundry evenly around the entire circumference of the centrifuge, the laundry should not protrude from the centrifuge rotor.

3.8. The centrifuge is started after closing the lid. In case of strong vibrations, turn off the centrifuge and after the rotation of the drum has stopped, spread the laundry evenly around its circumference.

3.9. Do not accelerate the rotor with your hands when starting the centrifuge and do not brake the rotor with your hands when the engine is running.

3.10. Do not leave a running washing machine unattended.

3.11. Do not pour the water from the washing machine onto the floor, but use a hose into the drain hole in the laundry room floor.

4. Safety requirements in emergency situations

4.1. If a malfunction occurs in the operation of the washing machine, stop working, turn off the washing machine and inform the administration of the institution. Continue work after troubleshooting.

4.2. If you feel unwell, stop work, turn off the washing machine and contact a health worker.

4.3. In case of injury, provide first aid to the victim, if necessary, send him to the nearest medical institution and inform the administration of the institution.

4.4. In case of electric shock, immediately disconnect the washing machine from the mains, provide first aid to the victim, if the victim has no breathing and pulse, give him artificial respiration or indirect heart massage until breathing and pulse are restored, if necessary, send the victim to the nearest medical facility and inform the administration about it institutions.

5. Safety requirements at the end of work

5.1. Drain the water from the washing machine using a hose into the drain hole in the laundry room floor and turn off the washing machine.

5.2. Tidy up the workplace, wipe dry the floor in the laundry room and turn off the supply and exhaust ventilation.

5.3. Remove protective clothing, wash hands thoroughly with soap and grease them with a protective cream.
