Persons over 18 years of age, specially trained and having an electrical safety qualification group of at least II are allowed to service power plants with internal combustion engines. 1.2. Employees servicing power plants with internal combustion engines undergo a preliminary medical examination upon employment and periodic medical examinations once every 2 years. 1.3. Persons who are not related to the maintenance of the equipment are not allowed in the machine room. 1.4. Workers servicing power plants with internal combustion engines are provided with overalls or cotton suits, headgear and noise protection (ear plugs, etc.). 1.5. It is forbidden to enter the diesel room and fuel storage with an open flame. Smoking is prohibited in these rooms. 2. Safety requirements before starting work 2.1. Before starting work in a diesel engine, an employee is required to put on overalls. 2.2. Fill the supply tank with fuel, if necessary. 2.3. Check for fuel and coolant leaks. 2.4. Before starting the engine, make sure that the engine parts and safety devices are in good condition by visual inspection. 3. Safety requirements during work 3.1. The engine must be started using the starter. When starting the engine with the crank, the worker must grasp the handle with four fingers, the thumb must be on the handle. 3.2. At low air temperatures, the oil and fuel lines can be heated with hot water to start the engine. It is strictly forbidden to use open fire (blowtorches, torches, etc.) in this case. 3.3. It is forbidden to clean, lubricate, change drive belts, pour rosin under them, repair the engine and auxiliary equipment with moving parts while the engine is running. 3.4. When the engine is stopped for inspection, cleaning and repair, it is necessary to turn off the starting circuit, and in the starting points in the engine room, hang prohibition posters "DO NOT START! PEOPLE WORK". 3.5. All rotating parts of the engine and auxiliary equipment: flywheels, pulleys, belt drives, etc. must be guarded to prevent accidental contact with these parts during operation. 3.6. When repairing and inspecting the engine, special attention should be paid to rings, pistons, valves. Their condition should exclude the possibility of penetration of gases into the room. 3.7. The places where exhaust pipes pass through walls and ceilings must not have gaps. 3.8. The manifold, exhaust pipe and engine muffler within the room must be covered with heat-insulating material, or have fences. 3.9. Filling the supply tank with fuel can only be done after the engine has stopped and cooled down. Filling fuel into the service tank of a running engine is prohibited. 3.10. Accidentally spilled fuel or lubricants on the floor must be wiped up immediately. 3.11. Cleaning material should be in metal boxes with a capacity of up to 0,5 cubic meters. m., installed away from engines, generators, shields and heaters. 3.12. It is necessary to carry out work on a diesel engine (checking, adjustment, control starts, etc.) using noise suppressors (headphones, bookmarks, plugs). 4. Safety requirements at the end of work 4.1. At the end of work, put the workplace in order, remove tools, cleaning materials, remove prohibition posters if they were hung out during work. 4.2. Remove overalls, wash hands thoroughly. 4.3. Report to the immediate supervisor on completion of work. 5. Safety requirements in an emergency 5.1. In the event of an emergency, immediately stop work, stop the engine, report the incident to the immediate supervisor. 5.2. In the event of a fire in the premises, the engine must be stopped immediately and the action plan in the event of a fire must be acted upon. 5.3. In any accident, take measures to provide first aid to the victim, call a doctor, report to the immediate supervisor and take measures to maintain the situation at the workplace in the form in which it was at the time of the accident, if this does not threaten the life and health of other workers and does not lead to more severe consequences.
