Hygienic assessment of the conditions and nature of work. Occupational Safety and Health

Occupational Safety and Health

Occupational Safety and Health / Legislative basis for labor protection

In accordance with the "Regulations on the procedure for certification of workplaces" Jobs are evaluated according to three main criteria:

  • hygienic assessment of existing conditions and nature of work; assessment of safety of workplaces;
  • accounting and assessment of the provision of employees with means of individual (collective) protection, training, etc.

Safety rated 1st, 2nd or 3rd class (no degree of danger).

Hygienic assessment of existing conditions and nature of work produced on the basis of instrumental measurements of physical, chemical, biological and psychophysiological factors. The classification of these factors is given in GOST 12.0.003 SSBT. The list of harmful production factors (with codes) given in the "Regulations on the procedure for attestation of workplaces" is used preliminary in determining certain factors inherent in a particular workplace. After measurements, the class of working conditions at the workplace is determined. The most time-consuming work is the definition of the class of working conditions in terms of the severity of the labor process and labor intensity.

Main indicators severity of the labor process are:

  • dynamic physical activity;
  • the mass of the load lifted and moved manually;
  • stereotyped labor movements;
  • static physical activity;
  • working posture;
  • body slopes; movement in space.

Each of these factors of the labor process is determined according to the methodology set out in the above manual R.2.2.755-99.

A general assessment of the severity of the labor process is made on the basis of all the above indicators. At the same time, a class is first established and entered into the protocol for each measured indicator, and the final assessment of the severity of labor is established according to the most sensitive indicator assigned to the highest class. If there are two or more indicators of class 3.1 and 3.2, the overall score is set one degree higher.

To the main indicators tension of the labor process relate:

  • loads of an intellectual nature (the degree of complexity of the work performed, the perception of information, the number and complexity of functions, responsibility for the final result);
  • sensory loads (duration of concentrated observation, quality of perceived and transmitted signals, number of objects of observation, etc.);
  • emotional stress (the degree of responsibility, risk to one's own life and the safety of others);
  • monotony of loads (the number of techniques performed and the duration of their implementation, the time of active actions during the shift, etc.);
  • mode of operation (number and duration of shifts, regulated breaks, etc.).

The assessment of the intensity of the labor process of a professional group of workers is based on an analysis of labor activity and its structure, which are studied by chronometric observations in the dynamics of the entire working day for at least one week. The analysis is based on taking into account the whole complex of production factors (stimuli, irritants) that create the prerequisites for the emergence of adverse neuro-emotional states (overstrain). All factors (indicators) of the labor process have a qualitative or quantitative expression and are grouped according to the types of loads: intellectual, sensory, emotional, monotonous, regime. Regardless of professional affiliation (profession), all 22 indicators are taken into account. It is not allowed to selectively take into account any individual indicators for a general assessment of labor intensity.

For each of the indicators, its own class of working conditions is determined separately. If any of the indicators is not presented due to the nature or characteristics of professional activity, the 1st class (optimal) is assigned to this indicator.

The final definition of the optimal, acceptable and harmful classes of working conditions is based on the number of indicators that have one or another class. The overall assessment of working conditions in terms of the degree of harmfulness and danger is established according to the highest class and degree of harmfulness. If three or more factors belong to class 3.1, then the overall assessment of working conditions corresponds to class 3.2. In the presence of two or more factors of classes 3.2, 3.3, 3.4, working conditions are rated one degree higher, respectively.

With a reduction in contact with harmful factors (time protection), working conditions can be assessed as less harmful, but not lower than class 3.1.

Alcohol content of warm beer 07.05.2024

Beer, as one of the most common alcoholic drinks, has its own unique taste, which can change depending on the temperature of consumption. A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. On the contrary, as the temperature increases, the clusters become more chain-like, resulting in a more pronounced alcoholic taste. This explains why the taste of some alcoholic drinks, such as baijiu, can change depending on temperature. The data obtained opens up new prospects for beverage manufacturers, ... >>

Major risk factor for gambling addiction 07.05.2024

Computer games are becoming an increasingly popular form of entertainment among teenagers, but the associated risk of gaming addiction remains a significant problem. American scientists conducted a study to determine the main factors contributing to this addiction and offer recommendations for its prevention. Over the course of six years, 385 teenagers were followed to find out what factors may predispose them to gambling addiction. The results showed that 90% of study participants were not at risk of addiction, while 10% became gambling addicts. It turned out that the key factor in the onset of gambling addiction is a low level of prosocial behavior. Teenagers with a low level of prosocial behavior do not show interest in the help and support of others, which can lead to a loss of contact with the real world and a deepening dependence on virtual reality offered by computer games. Based on these results, scientists ... >>

Traffic noise delays the growth of chicks 06.05.2024

The sounds that surround us in modern cities are becoming increasingly piercing. However, few people think about how this noise affects the animal world, especially such delicate creatures as chicks that have not yet hatched from their eggs. Recent research is shedding light on this issue, indicating serious consequences for their development and survival. Scientists have found that exposure of zebra diamondback chicks to traffic noise can cause serious disruption to their development. Experiments have shown that noise pollution can significantly delay their hatching, and those chicks that do emerge face a number of health-promoting problems. The researchers also found that the negative effects of noise pollution extend into the adult birds. Reduced chances of reproduction and decreased fertility indicate the long-term effects that traffic noise has on wildlife. The study results highlight the need ... >>

Prototype mobile digital TV from MICROSOFT and LINX ELECTRONICS 24.04.2003

Microsoft and LINX Electronics announced their intention to demonstrate the first mobile digital TV receiver.

Broadcasting to mobile TV receivers will be carried out in a special LINX Mobile standard, which is largely similar to the American digital television standard ATSC 8VSB, which is already being used in practice. The disadvantage of ATSC 8VSB is the inability to receive TV broadcasts from mobile devices. LINX Mobile eliminates this problem but introduces another one.

Digital TVs designed for the ATSC standard cannot receive transmissions in the new format, which means they need to be replaced. As with ATSC, LINX Mobile's bandwidth is 9 Mbps. However, LINX Mobile uses Windows Media 9 Series technology for audio and video compression, which ATSC does not work with.

The advantage of Windows Media 9 is that a 5 Mbps data stream can transmit a high-definition television image with 5.1 audio. Standard TV quality image transmission in Windows Media 9 format requires 1,5 Mbps of bandwidth.

In the near future, LINX Electronics plans to launch a digital TV chip that will support both LINX Mobile and ATSC. At the same time, the crystal area will increase by only 2% compared to a microcircuit that supports only ATSC.
