According to international statistics, the largest number occupational diseases (about one third) is associated with respiratory diseases from exposure to dust, the so-called pneumoconiosis and dust bronchitis.

The second most common occupational disease is vibration disease, which is found in almost one fifth of people suffering from occupational diseases.

In third place are occupational diseases of the musculoskeletal system and peripheral nervous system, which develop under the influence of physical overload.

In fourth place is cochlear neuritis (a disease of the hearing organs), which develops in people working in conditions of strong noise.

In fifth place - professional poisoning with chlorine, carbon monoxide, mercury, vinyl chloride and other chemicals and compounds.

All measures to prevent occupational diseases are in:

1) normalization of working conditions;

2) reducing the time of contact with harmful production factors;

3) use of personal protective equipment;

4) carrying out specific and general strengthening therapeutic and preventive measures;

5) conducting medical examinations upon employment and periodically during work.

Ensuring the spatial separation of the worker's body and adverse factors of the production environment is effectively achieved with the help of personal protective equipment.

Most occupational diseases require diagnosis in specialized medical treatment facilities, where workers are sent who, during medical examinations, show suspicious symptoms, possibly caused by an occupational disease.

To prevent occupational diseases, a whole range of technical means and organizational measures is used.
