I. General Provisions

  1. The traffic safety engineer reports directly to _______.

  • device, purpose and design features of the car;
  • rules for the technical operation of the rolling stock of road transport;
  • Traffic Laws;
  • current legislation, instructions, regulations, orders, instructions on traffic safety issues;
  • fundamentals of economics, organization of production and labor in auto enterprises;
  • the procedure and rules for keeping records and reporting on traffic safety;
  • rules and norms of labor protection, fire protection.
  1. Qualification requirements:
  • Traffic safety engineer category I: complete or basic higher education in the relevant field of training (specialist or bachelor) and advanced training. Work experience as a category II traffic safety engineer: for a specialist - at least 2 years, for a bachelor - at least 3 years.
  • Traffic safety engineer category II: secondary vocational education in the relevant field of training (specialist, bachelor or junior specialist) and advanced training. Work experience as a traffic safety engineer: for a specialist - at least 1 year, for a bachelor's or junior specialist - at least 3 years.
  • Traffic safety engineer: secondary vocational education in the relevant field of training (bachelor or junior specialist) without work experience requirements.

II. Official duties

Traffic Safety Engineer:

  1. Carries out systematic monitoring of compliance by all employees of the motor transport enterprise with traffic rules and technical operation of vehicles (special vehicles), instructions, orders and other guidance materials on traffic safety issues.
  2. Participates in the development of organizational and technical measures to prevent road traffic accidents (RTA), strengthening labor and transport discipline.
  3. Analyzes the causes that cause road accidents and violations of traffic rules by drivers, and on this basis develops specific measures to eliminate them.
  4. Participates in official investigations of traffic accidents with field visits.
  5. Monitors the work of drivers on the line and makes entries in road documents about identified violations.
  6. Conducts a team review of road accidents and traffic violations committed by drivers.
  7. Communicates with state inspection bodies (SAI) and organizes the implementation of their recommendations to ensure road safety at the enterprise.
  8. At least once a month, verifies violations of traffic rules committed by the company's drivers with the traffic police.
  9. Organizes, in accordance with the approved program, training for drivers on safety and traffic rules.
  10. Controls the conduct of driver training in the relevant divisions (columns) of enterprises.
  11. Develops the texts of monthly briefings for drivers in units (columns), supervises the conduct of briefings.
  12. Maintains records and reports on traffic safety.
  13. Participates in the work of the public commission for monitoring road safety.
  14. Provides assistance to heads of departments (columns) in carrying out organizational, technical and preventive measures to prevent road accidents, strengthen labor and transport discipline.

III. Rights

The traffic safety engineer has the right to:

  1. Get acquainted with the draft decisions of the management of the enterprise regarding its activities.
  2. Participate in the discussion of issues related to the performance of his duties.
  3. Make suggestions for improving the work related to the provisions of this instruction.
  4. Within the limits of his competence, inform his immediate supervisor about all those identified in the course of his activities, and make proposals for their elimination.
  5. Require the management of the enterprise to assist in the performance of their duties.

IV. A responsibility

The traffic safety engineer is responsible

  1. For improper performance or non-performance of their official duties, as well as for non-use or directly to their rights provided for by this Job Description - to the extent determined by the current legislation of Ukraine.
  2. For offenses committed in the course of carrying out their activities - within the limits determined by the current administrative, criminal and civil legislation of Ukraine.
  3. For causing material damage - within the limits determined by the current labor legislation on labor of Ukraine.

Integrated amplifier at 1 THz 04.11.2014

Northrop Grumman Corporation, one of the areas of specialization of which is advanced microelectronics, announced a breakthrough in the development of microwave integrated circuits.

Northrop Grumman specialists have created an integrated amplifier that includes 10 transistor stages and operates at a frequency of 1012 GHz. This is a record high. By the way, the previous world record set in 2012, equal to 850 GHz, also belonged to Northrop Grumman.

The terahertz range of electromagnetic waves is attractive for communication systems due to its high bandwidth, but its development is hampered by the lack of an element base capable of operating at such high frequencies. For comparison: modern wireless networks operate at frequencies of the order of gigahertz, that is, a thousand times less.

The Northrop Grumman chip uses high electron mobility transistors with a 25nm gate made of indium phosphide. At a frequency of 1 THz, the gain of this transistor is 10 dB, and at a frequency of 1,03 THz, it is 9 dB.

The development was made under a program funded by the US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). It is the culmination of a three-phase project involving the creation of transistor circuits operating at 670 GHz, 850 GHz, and 1 THz. Within five years, all three milestones were successfully achieved by Northrop Grumman.

Northrop Grumman's achievement is said to lead to new technologies in surveillance, radar, communications, atmospheric scanning, radio astronomy and medicine.
