UHD Blu-ray drives for PC

Despite the severe restrictions placed on UHD BD playback on PCs by the Blu-ray Disc Copyright Association, Pioneer has announced the release of two 5,25-inch optical drives in this format. These are the SATA 11Gb/s BDR-S11J-BK and BDR-S6J-X models, which support 4K Blu-ray Disc reading.

The speed parameters of drives in the recording mode are as follows (maximum values are indicated): BD-R - 16x, BD-RE - 2x, BD-R LTH - 8x, DVD-RAM - 5x, DVD+RW - 8x, DVD+-R DL - 8x , DVD±R - 16x, CD-RW - 24x, CD-R - 40x. Pioneer's BDR-S11J-BK features a glossy black bezel, while the BDR-S11J-X promises improved sound quality for AudioCD playback.

The devices will go on sale in February at prices starting at $195. Cyberlink software will be included in their package. However, for those who want to be able to watch 4K movies from Blu-ray media on their computers, you need to keep in mind the system requirements, which include Windows 10, the latest generation Intel Core processor with support for Intel SGX instructions, as well as a display with HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2 connected to the graphics card integrated into the CPU.

The developer himself calls the NU3000 the most advanced image and vision processor in the industry.
