I. General Provisions

  1. The merchandiser belongs to the category of specialists.
  2. The merchandiser must know:
  • current legislation governing commercial activity;
  • the basics of organizing work to create demand and stimulate sales of goods;
  • fundamentals of marketing and management;
  • characteristics and principles of using merchandising tools;
  • types of advertising and the basics of organizing advertising activities;
  • principles of organization of the trading space;
  • models of behavior of buyers in the trading floor;
  • principles of sales organization;
  • psychological types of consumers;
  • methods for evaluating the effectiveness of displaying goods on the trading floor;
  • basic properties, quality and consumer characteristics of the offered goods;
  • current prices for goods;
  • ethics of business communication;
  • fundamentals of a market economy;
  • fundamentals of psychology and sociology;
  • fundamentals of labor law.
  1. Appointment to the position of a merchandiser and dismissal from office is carried out by order of the head of the enterprise upon presentation.

II. Official duties

Merchandiser:

  1. It studies a certain territory (region) on which the organization of sales of goods is supposed.
  2. Defines POS and develops business linkage schemes.
  3. Negotiates with the management of trade enterprises on holding merchandising events (represents the product and related services, convinces of the need and effectiveness of merchandising).
  4. Carries out events for the presentation of goods in POS using the following merchandising tools:
  • Space-management - displaying goods in ways that encourage impulsive purchases of goods;
  • POS designing - placement of advertising elements in the POS space (posters, booklets, wobblers, product models (hanging, standing, etc.), garlands, flags, advertising commercial equipment (racks, racks, lamps, etc.);
  • Stock-control - calculation of the necessary and sufficient quantity (balance) of goods in POS, ensuring their availability.
  1. Motivates POS management to conclude supply, purchase and sale contracts, commissions (providing small consignments of goods for commission).
  2. Carries out preparatory work on the conclusion of contracts for the purchase of goods with responsible employees of trade enterprises.
  3. Takes measures to maintain long-term relationships with the management and specialists of trade enterprises.
  4. Carries out general control over the status of execution of orders.
  5. Oversees:
  • observance of the concept of laying out goods;
  • targeted use of advertising commercial equipment (displays, racks, shelves, etc.);
  • the state of advertising elements (wear, damage, death).
  1. Takes measures for the reconstruction, repair, replacement of defective or worn-out advertising elements.
  2. Carries out training and training of service personnel of a trading enterprise in the following areas:
  • main consumer characteristics of goods;
  • principles for maintaining the concept of displaying goods;
  • bases of motivation of sale of the goods to consumers.
  1. Organizes promotions (tastings, samplings, etc.).
  2. Analyzes the principles of work in POS merchandisers of other organizations.
  3. Tracks sales dynamics in POS.
  4. Prepares reports (weekly, monthly) on goods.
  5. Collects information about sales in POS to apply incentives and incentives to POS (awarding prizes based on the results of the contests “Best in Sales”, “Best in Sales Dynamics”; providing special discount systems for high sales; advertising about POS in promotional materials manufacturer of goods, wholesaler, etc.).
  6. Forms a data bank on POS (organizational and legal forms, addresses, details, telephone numbers, names of managers and leading specialists, financial condition, purchase volumes, etc.).
  7. Prepares reports on the results of the work done and on the expenditure of advertising samples of goods, advertising elements, etc.

III. Rights

The merchandiser has the right:

  1. Independently choose methods and forms of work with the management and personnel of trade enterprises.
  2. Sign documents within their competence.
  3. Get acquainted with the documents that define his rights and obligations in his position, the criteria for assessing the quality of performance of official duties.
  4. Request personally or on behalf of the immediate supervisor from the heads of enterprise departments and specialists information and documents necessary for the performance of his duties.
  5. Require the management of the enterprise to ensure the organizational and technical conditions and execution of the established documents necessary for the performance of official duties.

IV. A responsibility

The merchandiser is responsible for:

  1. For improper performance or non-performance of their official duties provided for by this Job Description - within the limits established by the current labor legislation of Ukraine.
  2. For offenses committed in the course of their activities - within the limits established by the current administrative, criminal and civil legislation of Ukraine.
  3. For causing material damage to the enterprise - within the limits established by the current labor legislation of Ukraine.
