I. General Provisions

  1. The main task of the radiologist is the timely and high-quality conduct of X-ray diagnostic studies for patients and X-ray therapy if there is an appropriate room in the department.
  2. The appointment and dismissal of a radiologist is carried out by the chief doctor of the polyclinic in the prescribed manner.
  3. The radiologist reports to the head of the X-ray department (office).
  4. His work is guided by:
  • guidelines and orders of municipal health authorities,
  • this job description,
  • methodological recommendations for improving the work of the X-ray room.

II. Official duties

  1. Regularly carry out the reception of patients according to the schedule approved by the administration of the polyclinic.
  2. Carry out x-ray examinations for patients (fluoroscopy, radiography of organs and systems) in order to make a timely diagnosis and early detection of the disease.
  3. Instruct both the attending physicians and other medical staff of this polyclinic on the preparation of patients for certain types of x-ray examinations.
  4. Supervise the work of junior and middle medical staff of the office, check the correctness and timeliness of the execution of medical orders.
  5. Follow the exact preparation of the recipe for chemical solutions.
  6. Monitor compliance by the X-ray room staff with internal regulations, labor protection and safety regulations, and, if necessary, give instructions to the X-ray laboratory assistant.
  7. Have a work plan and quarterly analyze the main indicators for the X-ray service, participate in the preparation of annual reports of the X-ray room.
  8. Monitor the rational use of x-ray films.
  9. Comply with the rules of safety, labor protection and internal labor regulations.
  10. Before starting work, check the readiness of the equipment, the condition of the measuring instruments and tubes.
  11. Make sure that the X-ray machine is not subjected to loads exceeding the passport data of the equipment.
  12. Comply with established patient care standards.
  13. Ensure compliance with fire prevention measures and, in particular, the correct storage of x-ray films.
  14. Pass a medical examination in a timely manner.
  15. Report immediately to the head of the X-ray room, and in his absence - to the head doctor of the clinic or his deputy for the medical unit about all emergencies (electric shock, radiation injury, fire, etc.) that occurred in the office.
  16. Conduct explanatory work among clinicians about the possible adverse effects of excessive exposure of patients with frequent and unreasonable x-ray examinations.
  17. Improve your theoretical level and professional qualifications by reading specialized literature, participating in the work of the X-ray society, scientific and practical conferences, seminars, ten days, periodic training in advanced training courses.
  18. Participate in the organization and conduct of advanced training activities for the middle and junior medical staff of the cabinet.
  19. Follow the principles of deontology.

III. Rights

The radiologist has the right to:

  1. apply any x-ray method of examination, worked out and accepted in this department (office), in order to identify the disease and decide on the appointment of a patient for an additional x-ray examination;
  2. refuse the X-ray examination prescribed by the attending physician, if it is not necessary;
  3. refer patients, if necessary, to consultations of other specialists (phthisiatrician, neuropathologist, otolaryngologist, etc.), including, with the consent of the head of the department, and a more qualified radiologist, as well as refer patients for additional clinical examination;
  4. to produce, with the permission of the head of the X-ray department, the placement of X-ray laboratory assistants and orderlies of the department in certain areas of work;
  5. do not allow medical personnel who have not undergone a medical examination to work in the X-ray room;
  6. take part in conferences, meetings, medical councils, pathological and anatomical analyzes, discussion of research results, etc.

IV. A responsibility

The radiologist is responsible for:

  1. failure to fulfill the obligations stipulated by the current legal acts and this instruction;
  2. poor quality of his work and his subordinate staff.
