I. General Provisions

The network administrator belongs to the category of specialists.
A person who has (higher; secondary) vocational (technical) education, experience in working with personal computers, as well as practice in creating and maintaining networks for at least (2 years; 3 years; etc.) is appointed to the position of a network administrator.
The network administrator must know:

Decrees, orders, orders, other governing and regulatory documents of higher and other bodies concerning the methods of programming and the use of computer technology in the processing of information.
Technical and operational characteristics, design features, purpose and modes of operation of the equipment, rules for its technical operation.
Network hardware and software.
Principles of simple hardware repair.
Normalized programming languages.
Current standards, number systems, ciphers and codes.
Programming methods.
Systems for organizing complex information protection, ways to prevent unauthorized access to information.
The procedure for issuing technical documentation.
Internal labor regulations.
Fundamentals of labor legislation.
Rules and norms of labor protection, safety measures, industrial sanitation and fire protection.

Appointment to the position of network administrator and dismissal from office is carried out by order of the head of the enterprise on the proposal of _______.
The network administrator reports directly to _______.
During the absence of the network administrator (vacation, illness, etc.), his duties are performed by a person appointed in the prescribed manner. This person acquires the appropriate rights and is responsible for the proper performance of the duties assigned to him.

II. Official duties

Network administrator:

Installs network software on servers and workstations.
Configures the system on the server.
Provides software integration on file servers, database management system servers and workstations.
Maintains the operating state of the server software.
Registers users, assigns IDs and passwords.
Trains users to work in a network, maintaining archives; answers user questions related to networking; draws up instructions for working with network software and brings them to the attention of users.
Controls the use of network resources.
Organizes access to local and global networks.

Sets limits for users on:

using a workstation or server;
time;
degree of resource use.

Provides:

network security (protection against unauthorized access to information, viewing or changing system files and data);
interworking security.

Besides:

Provides timely copying and backup of data.
Appeals to technical personnel in case of network equipment malfunctions.
Participates in the restoration of system performance in case of failures and failure of network equipment.
Identifies user and network software errors and restores system performance.
Conducts network monitoring, develops proposals for the development of network infrastructure.
Prepares proposals for the modernization and acquisition of network equipment.
Supervises the installation of equipment by third-party specialists.
Reports to their line manager on incidents of network abuse and action taken.
Keeps a log of system information, other technical documentation.

III. Rights

The network administrator has the right to:

Set and change the rules for using the network.
Request the necessary documents and information from the heads and specialists of the enterprise departments.
Get acquainted with the documents that define his rights and obligations in his position, the criteria for assessing the quality of performance of official duties.
Submit proposals for the improvement of the work related to the duties provided for in this Job Description for consideration by the management of the organization.
Require the management of the enterprise to provide the organizational and technical conditions necessary for the performance of official duties.

IV. A responsibility

The network administrator is responsible for:

disruption of the network due to incorrect routing control and incorrect administration of basic network services.
failure to notify management of changes in routing in a timely manner.
untimely registration of dedicated IP addresses.
failure to notify management in a timely manner of cases of network abuse.
improper performance or non-performance of their official duties provided for by this Job Description - within the limits established by the current labor legislation of Ukraine.
offenses committed in the course of their activities - within the limits established by the current administrative, criminal and civil legislation of Ukraine.
causing material damage to the enterprise - within the limits established by the current labor and civil legislation of Ukraine.
