Fainting - this is a sudden, short-term loss of consciousness (from a few seconds to several minutes) due to a sudden drain of blood from the brain. Fainting is usually preceded by dizziness, blackouts, ringing in the ears, and sometimes nausea and vomiting. Fainting can be the result of fright, severe pain, bleeding, a sharp change in body position from horizontal to vertical.

When fainting, the victim sweats profusely, the limbs become cold, the pulse becomes frequent and weak, breathing is shallow, the skin is pale.

When rendering assistance, the victim should be laid on his back so that his head is lower than the body, unfasten clothing that restricts breathing, provide fresh air, spray his face with cold water, give a cotton swab moistened with ammonia to sniff, lightly pat on the cheeks. An unconscious victim may vomit, so turn his head to the side. Putting cold lotions and ice on your head should not be. In a pre-fainting state, the victim should be given cold water or hot tea to drink.

Heat or sunstroke occurs as a result of significant overheating of the body and, as a result, a rush of blood to the brain. This happens when the heat balance is disturbed and the release of heat coming from outside and formed in the body is difficult for some reason. Overheating is predisposed by elevated ambient temperature, significant humidity, waterproof (rubberized, tarpaulin) clothing. Overheating is facilitated by heavy physical work, alcohol intoxication, lack of sleep, violation of the drinking regime and diet.

With heat stroke, the state of health worsens, weakness, a feeling of intense heat, redness of the skin, profuse sweating (sweat drips down), palpitations, shortness of breath, throbbing and heaviness in the temples, dizziness, headache, nausea, sometimes vomiting. Body temperature rises to 38-40 °C. The pulse rate reaches 100-120 beats per minute.

Heat stroke is characterized by the maximum accumulation of heat in the body (body temperature 41-42 ° C or more), clouding of consciousness up to its complete loss, convulsions of various muscle groups, respiratory and circulatory disorders. Possible hallucinations, delusions. The skin becomes dry and hot, the tongue is also dry, the pulse is thready and arrhythmic.

If heat stroke is not treated promptly, death is possible. Death occurs as a result of respiratory and circulatory disorders.

Sunstroke occurs when a person with an uncovered head is exposed to direct sunlight for a long time. The symptoms of sunstroke are the same as those of heatstroke. Help with heat or sunstroke is as follows: the victim must be quickly moved to a cool place; lay on your back, placing a bundle of clothes under your head; remove or unfasten clothing; moisten the head and chest with cold water; put cold lotions or ice on the head (forehead, parietal region, occiput) and inguinal, subclavian, popliteal, axillary regions, where many vessels are concentrated.

If a person is conscious, then he can be given strong cold tea or cold salted water to drink. When the victim has impaired breathing and no pulse, it is necessary to carry out the whole complex of resuscitation measures - artificial respiration and external heart massage.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Two-dimensional supercrystalline quantum gas 28.08.2021

In addition to the known basic states of matter, the state of a solid, liquid, gaseous and plasma, there are many more exotic states that can only be obtained in the imagination or in the laboratory. One of these states, known as a supercrystal, "drew" in the imagination of scientists several years ago, and only recently, researchers from the University of Innsbruck, for the first time in the history of science, managed to create such a supercrystal in their laboratory, moreover, in an even more exotic form, in the form of a two-dimensional supercrystalline quantum crystal. gas.

A supercrystal is a bit different from what one might imagine, based on its name. Essentially, the atoms of a supercrystal form a solid crystalline structure, just like in ordinary crystalline forms of matter. But, in parallel with this, atoms can move, i.e. a supercrystal can flow with zero viscosity, similar to a superfluid or, as it is also called, a superfluid. This is very similar to a paradox, but theoretically the possibility of the existence of such a form of matter was justified back in the 1960s, and in 2017 the first experimental confirmation was received.

Some groups of researchers have been successful in forming small supercrystals using the so-called Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC). This condensate is a cloud of atoms cooled to an ultra-low temperature. And in such a state of matter, its quantum properties come to the fore, which usually do not manifest themselves on such a large scale. One of the main features is that all the atoms that make up the condensate cloud exist simultaneously at all points in the cloud, thanks to a quantum phenomenon called delocalization.

In previous experiments, the resulting particles of supercrystals were so small that they could be conditionally considered one-dimensional, due to which the atoms of the supercrystal could flow in only one direction. The Innsbruck group gave their supercrystal another dimension by using the Bose-Einstein condensate they used consisted of dysprosium atoms. The magnetic interactions between these atoms caused them to assemble into "droplets" that themselves lined up as nodes in a two-dimensional grid.

Conducting research, scientists have already been able to notice that in the system they created, in a two-dimensional supercrystal, strange vortices sometimes appear in the empty area between the droplets. Such a phenomenon has already been described earlier in theory, the occurrence of vortices is one of the consequences of the phenomenon of superfluidity, and this case is also the first time in the history of science when scientists were able to observe all this with their own eyes.
