The problems of information security of the state are quite fully covered in the Doctrine of Information Security of the Russian Federation. Let us dwell on two of them: the problem of information wars and information terrorism.

Information war - these are actions taken to achieve information superiority by damaging the information sphere of the enemy and ensuring one's own information security.

Information wars are waged with the help of information weapons, the use of which is comparable in effectiveness to the action of weapons of mass destruction. The idea of using and the material foundations of modern information weapons were formed as informatization developed. The computerization of various spheres of public life, the development of telecommunications and information networks, the creation of databases and data banks, the widespread introduction of the latest information technologies and the transformation of the profession of a programmer into a prestigious and mass specialty created the basic scientific, technological and economic prerequisites for the emergence and improvement of a new type of information weapons and in at the same time, they made the objects of management and communications, energy and transport, the banking system very vulnerable to information impact.

Information weapon is a set of means, methods and technologies that provide the possibility of forceful influence on the information sphere of the enemy in order to destroy its information infrastructure, state management systems, and reduce defense capability.

Versatility, secrecy, breadth of impact, choice of place and time of use, efficiency and lack of legal restrictions on use make information weapons an extremely dangerous means of armed struggle. It can also be used in peacetime. Moreover, malicious influences on a technical system, including a military-technical one, can be exerted already at the stage of its design and creation due to the deliberate introduction of special sabotage-type defects (software tabs) into the system software. The complexity of modern software tools makes it practically impossible to identify such bookmarks.

The theater of operations in the conduct of information wars is the entire world information space, and the destructive power of information weapons in the process of further informatization will only increase. Information wars, especially in the context of the existence of an almost monopoly position in the information sphere of a small number of countries, can cause national, regional and even global information disasters, the devastating consequences of which for world civilization will be no less disastrous than the consequences of nuclear disasters. The threat of an information war in the global context is a factor of hidden military-political pressure and intimidation, a factor capable of violating strategic parity and undermining the existing balance in the world political arena.

The actions of individuals or groups aimed at damaging the information sphere or using it for personal gain are called information crime. As a rule, these are one-time crimes against a specific object of the information space.

Information terrorism - this is a special form of violence, which is a conscious and purposeful information impact or a threat to use such influence to force the government to achieve political, economic, religious and other goals by a terrorist organization or individual terrorists, accompanied by an emotional impact on society to arouse fear and panic in it , loss of confidence in the authorities and the creation of political instability.

Information terrorism, while similar to information warfare and crime in form and methods, differs from them in goals and tactics. The main thing in the tactics of information terrorism is that a terrorist act should have dangerous consequences, become widely known to the population and receive a wide public outcry. As a rule, the demands of terrorists are accompanied by the threat of a repetition of a terrorist act without specifying a specific object of action.

The threat of information terrorism has become an important geopolitical factor, and the fight against it requires the combined efforts of all state institutions, as well as the intensification of international cooperation in this area.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Bioceramics absorb metals 06.02.2005

German scientists from the Research Center for Atomic Physics in Rossendorf near Dresden have developed a "live" filter that actively absorbs heavy metals from water. The filter is based on bioceramics, a highly porous material that has been used for years for bone replacement.

In 1995, physicists discovered a strain of bacteria in uranium-bearing rock heaps that quickly and in unusually large amounts concentrate uranium in their cells from water seeping through the heaps.

Now the bacteria have been "tamed", they have been settled in numerous pores penetrating bioceramics. By passing water contaminated with uranium compounds through this porous material, clean drinking water is obtained at the output - from 86 to 99% of uranium is absorbed.

Uranium is not poisonous to bacteria, since their cells contain a protein that tightly binds this heavy metal. They are also capable of removing lead, cadmium, copper and nickel from water.
