The device, the diagram of which is shown in the figure, turns on the lighting on the landing when any of the doors leading to it is opened and turns it off after a certain period of time after the doors are closed. In the initial state, the contacts of all reed switches SF1-SFn installed on the door frames are closed under the action of permanent magnets located near them, mounted on the doors. As a result, the logic level at the output of the element DD1.2 is low. Capacitor C3 is charged to the supply voltage, so a low level is also present at the output of element DD1.4. Transistor VT1 and trinistor VS1 are closed, lighting lamp EL1 is off.

Automatic stairwell lighting switch

It is worth opening the door, the contacts of the reed switch installed on its frame will be open, and the capacitor C2 will be charged through the resistor R2. The low level at the output of the element DD1.2 will change to a high one, which will lead to the discharge of the capacitor C3 through the diode VD3, the resistor R3 and the output circuit of the element DD1.2. The level at the output of the element DD1.4, in turn, will become high, which will lead to the opening of the transistor VT1, the trinistor VS1 and the ignition of the lamp EL1.

When the door is closed and the level at the output of the element DD1.2 becomes low again, the lamp EL1 will remain on for some time until the capacitor C3 is charged through the resistor R4. With the ratings of the elements indicated in the diagram, this will take approximately 20 s, after which the device will return to its original state and the EL1 lamp will go out.

The diode bridge VD1 is necessary so that the current through the trinistor VS1 flows in only one direction. The R1C1VD2 circuit is the power node of the DD1 chip.

Instead of the K561LA7 chip, you can install K561LE5.

The conclusions of many reed switches (including KEM-1, KEM-2) are not designed for soldering. Therefore, the ends of the connecting wires stripped of insulation are simply wound on them, fixing them with pieces of a PVC tube. The permanent magnets required to control the reed switches can be extracted, for example, from magnetic door latches.

Instead of reed switches, other contact sensors can be used, for example, microswitches P1M9-1T, P1M9-2T, MP1, MP3, MP5, MP10, setting them in such a way that the contacts close when closing and open when the doors are opened.

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

The threat of space debris to the Earth's magnetic field 01.05.2024

More and more often we hear about an increase in the amount of space debris surrounding our planet. However, it is not only active satellites and spacecraft that contribute to this problem, but also debris from old missions. The growing number of satellites launched by companies like SpaceX creates not only opportunities for the development of the Internet, but also serious threats to space security. Experts are now turning their attention to the potential implications for the Earth's magnetic field. Dr. Jonathan McDowell of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics emphasizes that companies are rapidly deploying satellite constellations, and the number of satellites could grow to 100 in the next decade. The rapid development of these cosmic armadas of satellites can lead to contamination of the Earth's plasma environment with dangerous debris and a threat to the stability of the magnetosphere. Metal debris from used rockets can disrupt the ionosphere and magnetosphere. Both of these systems play a key role in protecting the atmosphere and maintaining ... >>

Solidification of bulk substances 30.04.2024

There are quite a few mysteries in the world of science, and one of them is the strange behavior of bulk materials. They may behave like a solid but suddenly turn into a flowing liquid. This phenomenon has attracted the attention of many researchers, and we may finally be getting closer to solving this mystery. Imagine sand in an hourglass. It usually flows freely, but in some cases its particles begin to get stuck, turning from a liquid to a solid. This transition has important implications for many areas, from drug production to construction. Researchers from the USA have attempted to describe this phenomenon and come closer to understanding it. In the study, the scientists conducted simulations in the laboratory using data from bags of polystyrene beads. They found that the vibrations within these sets had specific frequencies, meaning that only certain types of vibrations could travel through the material. Received ... >>

Skin profilometry 11.02.2000

Employees of the Laboratory of Friction and System Dynamics from Lyon (France) have created a laser device that allows cosmetologists to accurately track the effect of creams, masks, lotions and other products that eliminate wrinkles.

The thinnest laser beam glides over the surface of the skin, its reflection is captured by four photodiodes. The result is a three-dimensional map of the skin area with relief lines every 10 micrometers.

By repeating such measurements, one can evaluate the effectiveness of a cosmetic product not by eye, as has been done so far, but in exact numbers.
