Natural emergencies of biological origin (mass diseases): epidemics, epizootics. Basics of safe life

Fundamentals of Safe Life Activities (OBZhD)

Epidemic - rapid and massive spread of an acutely contagious disease (infection) among people.

Infectious diseases in humans are diseases caused by pathogenic microorganisms (germs).

The activity of the epidemic process changes under the influence of natural and social conditions (population density, housing conditions, sanitary and communal improvement of settlements, etc.).

The emergence and expansion of the epidemic process is possible if there is a source of infection, the mechanism of infection transmission, and human susceptibility.

Infected people and animals are called sources of infection.

Susceptibility - the ability of the human body, animal, plant to respond to the introduction, reproduction and vital activity of harmful microbes (development of the infectious process) with a complex of protective and adaptive reactions.

The mechanism of transmission of the pathogen (infection) includes the removal of the pathogen from the infected organism, its stay for a certain period in the external environment and the introduction of the pathogen into the body of a healthy person or animal.

Six main transmission mechanisms are known:

1) food (typhoid fever, dysentery, etc.);

2) water (cholera, typhoid fever, etc.);

3) airborne (meningitis, measles, influenza, etc.);

4) air-dust (pneumonia, tetanus);

5) contact household (flu, anthrax);

6) through transmitters (lice - typhus, ticks - encephalitis, etc.).

Epizootic - the state of prevalence of infectious diseases of farm animals in a specific area in a certain period of time.

Prevention of the spread of infections

Prevention is carried out in three main areas: elimination of the source of infection, exclusion of transmission routes of the infectious agent, increasing the immunity of people and animals (immunization).

Elimination of the source of infection includes:

1) disinfection - destruction of the pathogen in environmental objects, indoors, on territories, on linen, clothing, skin;

2) pest control - destruction of harmful insects in the external environment;

3) deratization - extermination of rodents.

If a focus of infection occurs in the infected area, quarantine or observation is introduced.

Observation is introduced when pathogens of infections that do not belong to the group of especially dangerous ones are identified, as well as in areas directly adjacent to the border of the quarantine zone.

Quarantine - complete isolation of the source of infection from the population (surrounding). Around the source of infection, as a rule, security is established, entry or exit, as well as the export of property, is prohibited.

Sanitary and hygienic measures include the obligatory observance of simple rules of personal and public hygiene.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

L-band antenna supporting ultra-wideband and multi-band networks 08.03.2015

Huawei has introduced the world's first L-band antenna supporting ultra-wideband (UWB) and multi-band. In addition to the main frequencies 700/800/900/1800/2100/2600 MHz, the new antenna operates in the 1500 MHz band.

According to GSMA studies, the L-band (1300-1518 MHz) will be in high demand in the coming years, as it is effective in providing mobile broadband (MBB) services, has high power and wide coverage even inside buildings. The L-band 1452-1492 MHz is in particular demand due to regulatory action, including the recent decision to use the frequency range for mobile broadband in Europe.

Huawei started R&D of L-band antenna back in 2014 and became the first company in the world to launch a multi-band ultra-wideband antenna capable of supporting all major frequencies and L-band. Initially planned for deployment in Europe, this antenna will allow operators to greatly accelerate the deployment of VHF networks.

Zhou Taoyuan, president of Huawei's Antenna Solutions Division, said, "Frequency spectrum is a key aspect in the development of MBB, and L-band will play an important role in this sector in the coming years. Huawei's new antenna is designed to help operators deploy more efficiently MBB network, is an important addition to our line of multi-band ultra-wideband antennas and proof of our leadership in wireless communications technologies."

In 2014, Huawei shipped over 1 million antennas worldwide.
