Methods and technological equipment for cleaning the hydrosphere can be chosen, knowing the types of impurities, as well as the permissible concentrations of these impurities in treated wastewater. In accordance with the types of processes implemented during cleaning, there are mechanical, physico-chemical and biological cleaning methods.

1. Mechanical cleaning - straining, settling, processing in the field of action of centrifugal forces and filtering. Straining is carried out in gratings and fiber traps with perforated discs in the form of moving grids coated with a layer of fibrous mass. Sand traps are used to purify water from metal and sand particles larger than 0,25 mm. Settlers are used for wastewater treatment from mechanical particles larger than 0,1 mm, as well as from particles of oil products.

Wastewater treatment in the field of action of centrifugal forces is carried out in open or pressure hydrocyclones and centrifuges.

To clean high flow rates of wastewater from fine solid impurities, granular filters are used, which have a large filtration surface, simple design and high efficiency.

2. Physical and chemical cleaning methods used to remove dissolved impurities and suspended solids.

Flotation - to intensify the process of oil products floating when their particles are enveloped by gas bubbles supplied to waste water.

Extraction is based on the redistribution of impurities in a mixture of two mutually insoluble liquids.

Neutralization (water-reagent, filtration, semi-dry) is designed to isolate and liquid wastes of acids, alkalis, metal salts based on acids and alkalis.

Sorption is used to purify liquid waste from soluble impurities using finely dispersed materials.

Ionic purification - for desalination and purification of liquid waste from metal ions and other impurities with ion exchangers (synthetic ion exchange resins).

Electrochemical cleaning is carried out by electrolysis.

Hyperfiltration is realized by separation of solutions by filtering them through membranes, the pores of which allow only water molecules to pass through.

3. Biological treatment It is used to isolate finely dispersed and dissolved organic substances and is based on the ability of microorganisms to use the organic substances contained in liquid waste for nutrition. Biofilters with forced and natural air supply are used. As a filter, slag, crushed stone, expanded clay, plastic, gravel, etc. are used. Aerotanks are used to clean large amounts of liquid waste. Oxytenes provide a more intensive process of oxidation of organic impurities.

A New Way to Control and Manipulate Optical Signals 05.05.2024

The modern world of science and technology is developing rapidly, and every day new methods and technologies appear that open up new prospects for us in various fields. One such innovation is the development by German scientists of a new way to control optical signals, which could lead to significant progress in the field of photonics. Recent research has allowed German scientists to create a tunable waveplate inside a fused silica waveguide. This method, based on the use of a liquid crystal layer, allows one to effectively change the polarization of light passing through a waveguide. This technological breakthrough opens up new prospects for the development of compact and efficient photonic devices capable of processing large volumes of data. The electro-optical control of polarization provided by the new method could provide the basis for a new class of integrated photonic devices. This opens up great opportunities for ... >>

Primium Seneca keyboard 05.05.2024

Keyboards are an integral part of our daily computer work. However, one of the main problems that users face is noise, especially in the case of premium models. But with the new Seneca keyboard from Norbauer & Co, that may change. Seneca is not just a keyboard, it is the result of five years of development work to create the ideal device. Every aspect of this keyboard, from acoustic properties to mechanical characteristics, has been carefully considered and balanced. One of the key features of Seneca is its silent stabilizers, which solve the noise problem common to many keyboards. In addition, the keyboard supports various key widths, making it convenient for any user. Although Seneca is not yet available for purchase, it is scheduled for release in late summer. Norbauer & Co's Seneca represents new standards in keyboard design. Her ... >>

The world's tallest astronomical observatory opened 04.05.2024

Exploring space and its mysteries is a task that attracts the attention of astronomers from all over the world. In the fresh air of the high mountains, far from city light pollution, the stars and planets reveal their secrets with greater clarity. A new page is opening in the history of astronomy with the opening of the world's highest astronomical observatory - the Atacama Observatory of the University of Tokyo. The Atacama Observatory, located at an altitude of 5640 meters above sea level, opens up new opportunities for astronomers in the study of space. This site has become the highest location for a ground-based telescope, providing researchers with a unique tool for studying infrared waves in the Universe. Although the high altitude location provides clearer skies and less interference from the atmosphere, building an observatory on a high mountain poses enormous difficulties and challenges. However, despite the difficulties, the new observatory opens up broad research prospects for astronomers. ... >>

To remember, you need to retell 21.01.2017

To effectively store the necessary information in memory, it is enough to retell it to someone, Baylor University employees said.

Scientists conducted an experiment on students, giving them the task of memorizing the plot and details of 24-second clips from 40 famous films.

Each participant had his own set of fragments, so the opportunity to use the cheat sheet was excluded. It turned out that those who verbalized what they saw to their friend coped better than the rest. Later, they were able to answer almost all the questions of specialists, and the effect persisted for a week.

Experts note that this method is both very simple and more effective than repeating to yourself.
