Noise defined as a set of aperiodic sounds of varying intensity and frequency. The noises around people have different intensities, for example: 50-60 dB (colloquial speech), 100 dB (car siren), 80 dB (car engine noise), etc.

According to the nature of the spectrum, noises are broadband, with a continuous spectrum and tonal, in the spectrum of which there are audible tones. According to the spectral composition, depending on the predominance of sound energy in the corresponding frequency range, low-, medium- and high-frequency noises are distinguished, according to temporal characteristics, noises are constant, intermittent, impulse, and fluctuating in time. From a hygienic point of view, great importance is attached to the amplitude-time, spectral and probabilistic parameters of intermittent noise, the most typical for modern production.

To assess the physiological impact of noise on a person, loudness and loudness level are used. Noise has a harmful effect on the human body, especially on the central nervous system, causing overwork and exhaustion of brain cells. Under the influence of noise, insomnia occurs, fatigue quickly develops, attention decreases, overall working capacity and labor productivity decrease.

Prolonged exposure to noise and related disturbances in the central nervous system are considered as one of the factors contributing to the occurrence of hypertension. Under the influence of noise, phenomena of hearing fatigue, hearing loss occur. These phenomena with the cessation of noise quickly disappear. If hearing fatigue is repeated systematically for a long time, then hearing loss develops.

Hearing loss - persistent hearing loss, making it difficult to perceive the speech of others under normal conditions. Thus, a short-term exposure to a level of 120 dB (the roar of an aircraft) does not lead to irreversible consequences. Prolonged exposure to noise of 80-90 dB leads to occupational deafness. In addition, intense noise in the workplace contributes to a decrease in attention and an increase in the number of errors in the performance of work, noise has an exceptionally strong effect on the speed of reaction, information collection and analytical processes, due to noise, labor productivity decreases and the quality of work deteriorates.

Noise makes it difficult for workers to react in a timely manner to the warning signals of intra-shop transport, which contributes to the occurrence of accidents at work.

The noise level is normalized by sanitary norms and state standards and should not exceed the permissible values.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Sugar addiction 18.05.2016

Scientists from the Technological University of Queensland (Australia) found that the use of sugar causes an addiction similar to a drug in terms of the mechanism of action.

The fact is that the abuse of sweets increases the level of dopamine, which is one of the so-called chemical factors of internal reinforcement and is an important part of the brain's reward system, since it causes a feeling of pleasure and thus affects the processes of motivation and learning. This neurotransmitter is naturally produced in large amounts during perceived positive experiences, such as having sex, eating delicious food, pleasurable bodily sensations, and drug use.

It turned out that sugar acts on the body, in fact, in the same way as tobacco, morphine or cocaine. As with drugs, over time, the effect of sweets weakens and a person has to increase sugar consumption in order to achieve the dopamine concentration habitual for the body and improve mood. In fact, the rejection of sweets causes a real "withdrawal" in the body! Scientists hope to use their discovery to create revolutionary drugs to combat the abuse of sweets, which will be made on the basis of drugs for nicotine addiction.
