Not only for a radio station of the 3rd category, but also for the operation of QRP radio stations of the 1st and 2nd categories, the transistor power amplifier circuit for CW and SSB operation, shown in Fig. 1, may be of interest.

Power amplifier for radio stations of the 3rd category
Ris.1

Transistor power amplifiers have a very low (units or tens of ohms) output impedance, which creates certain difficulties in making their connection circuits with the antenna.

In particular, in such amplifiers it is unacceptable to use long (up to 10 cm) wires, which are necessary to switch the resonant communication circuits with the antenna for each range. Therefore, high-frequency transistor power amplifiers are often made with broadband antenna-coupling transformers, and these transformers are quite critical in their characteristics.

The scheme is single-range. Switched circuits can be used to operate on 40, 80 and 160 meters, but it is more rational to make a single-band amplifier.

The device is designed to operate on exciters with an output power of about 1 watt. The exciter load, which ensures stable (without signs of self-excitation on all ranges) operation of the amplifier, is resistor R1. A powerful field-effect transistor VT2 is used as a linear power amplifier.

To ensure good gain linearity, the transistor VT2 operates at a high value of the quiescent current - in the absence of an excitation voltage, by selecting the resistance of the resistor R4, a constant current in the drain circuit of VT2 is set to about 0,3 A. A single-tone signal with a voltage of 1 V at the RF Input connector will increase the DC component of the current through VT2 at 0,7 A with the allocation of the C5 L3C6 circuit to the antenna with a power of 10 watts.

The scheme provides for switching reception - transmission. It is carried out from an external control circuit, which is closed to the housing when switching to gear. In this case, the high-frequency relay K1 is activated, the contacts of which disconnect the antenna from the receiver and connect it to the output of the power amplifier.

In the receive mode, the control circuit is open and a positive voltage is applied to the base of the transistor VT1, which opens it. The voltage at the collector VT1 becomes close to zero, and VT2 closes.

Relay K1 type RPV2/7, passport RS4.521.952. Inductors L1 and L2 type D-1 (at 1A) with an inductance of 30 and 10 μH, respectively.

The circuit data at the output of the amplifier are given in the table.

Range, m C5,pf С6,pf L3, coils
160 6200 3000 20
80 3000 1500 15
40 1600 820 10
20 750 420 7
15 470 300 5
10 300 200 4

Coils L3 - single-layer, frame diameter 15 mm (wire PEV-2 1,5). The winding length is selected for each band until the maximum output power is obtained at the center frequency.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Smart dressing for the treatment of chronic wounds 22.02.2020

American bioengineers have developed a wireless "smart" bandage that can deliver drugs to a long-term non-healing wound and speed up the healing of chronic wounds.

Chronic wounds are wounds that do not heal over time, despite appropriate therapy. Such wounds occur, for example, as one of the complications of diabetes. These include bedsores, trophic ulcers and diabetic foot ulcers.

A new bandage developed by scientists from the University of Connecticut, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Harvard Medical School could help treat chronic wounds. It is equipped with miniature needles printed on a 3D printer. These needles are able to penetrate deeper layers of the wound without causing severe pain to the patient and without causing inflammation. In this case, the bandage does not need to be constantly changed.

Attached to the bandage is an electronic device - a smart platform - with which you can adjust the dosage and the moment of release of the drug, which is delivered through miniature needles.

The development was tested first on cells and then on diabetic mice in which the disease caused skin damage. Thanks to the "smart" bandage, the mice showed signs of complete wound healing - without scarring.
