Fire - this is burning, as a result of which material values are uselessly and irretrievably destroyed and damaged, and a danger to human life and health is created.

Fire- и explosive objects (PVOO) enterprises that produce, store, transport explosive products or products that, under certain conditions, acquire the ability to ignite or explode.

According to explosive, explosion-fire and fire hazards, air defense facilities are divided into five categories, objects belonging to categories A, B, C are especially dangerous.

Category A - oil refineries, chemical plants, pipelines, oil product storages.

Category B - workshops for the preparation and transportation of coal dust, wood flour, powdered sugar, sacking and grinding departments of mills.

Category B - sawmills, woodworking, carpentry, model, sawmill production.

Category D - warehouses and enterprises associated with the processing and storage of non-combustible substances in a hot state, as well as with the combustion of solid, liquid or gaseous fuels.

Category D - warehouses and enterprises for the storage of fireproof substances and materials in a cold state, such as meat, fish and other products.

Characteristics of accidents at fire and explosive facilities.

Airborne accidents include:

1) fires followed by an explosion;

2) gaseous (liquefied) hydrocarbon products;

3) fuel-air mixtures and other explosive substances.

The damaging factors of accidents at air defense facilities include:

1) air shock wave with the formation of fragmentation fields;

2) thermal and light radiation and, as a result, air pollution in the affected area with carbon monoxide and OM.

The nature and degree of damage to people depends on the degree of their protection:

1) heavy injuries are expressed by severe concussion, loss of consciousness and numerous complex bone fractures;

2) average - dislocations of limbs, contusion of the brain, damage to the hearing organs;

3) lungs - short-lived functional disorders.

The main issues of fire safety of objects (enterprises) are set out in Building codes and regulations.

The fire protection of objects depends on the purpose of buildings, their fire resistance and operation mode, the number of people who are simultaneously in the room, the amount of combustible materials and substances in enterprises, and other factors.

For each object, a specific fire mode - a set of certain measures and fire safety requirements established for the facility and subject to mandatory implementation by all employees of this facility.

It is determined by the rules, instructions, orders and orders of the head of the enterprise.

One of the promising areas that ensure the fire safety of facilities, - installation of fire-fighting automation.

To report a fire, you can use:

1) electrical (EPS);

2) automatic (APS);

3) sound fire alarm systems;

4) beep;

5) siren;

6) telephone;

7) radio communication.

Currently, enterprises use beam and ring electric fire alarms.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Measured the magnetic field of a black hole at the center of the Galaxy 19.12.2015

For the first time, astronomers have been able to study what is happening in the vicinity of the event horizon of the supermassive black hole at the center of the Milky Way and discover that strong and highly variable magnetic fields are present in its vicinity and in the disk of matter that surrounds it.

For the first time, astrophysicists have been able to "reach out" to the event horizon of the supermassive black hole at the center of our Galaxy and prove that it has a magnetic field that helps it capture matter and spit out some of it in the form of light and high-energy particles, according to an article published in the journal Science. .

"The existence of these magnetic fields was predicted by theories, but no one had been able to see them before. These observations allowed us to put decades of theorizing and calculations on a solid experimental basis," said Shep Doeleman from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA).

Doleman and his colleagues were able to make this discovery thanks to the unique Event Horizons Telescope interferometer, which combined the power of the most sensitive radio observatories in the world in California, Arizona, the Hawaiian Islands and even at the south pole of the Earth.
The main goal of this project, as you can understand from its name, was to "get close" to the event horizon of the black hole Sgr A *, located at the center of the Milky Way, and comprehensively study its properties. Combining the power of telescopes allowed scientists to achieve a resolution exceeding the sensitivity of Hubble by a thousand times.

The first successes of this project and the first observations were reported by scientists in April of this year. According to them, the EHT managed to get close to the event horizon of "our" black hole and achieve a record resolution, 10 times higher than the accuracy of previous observations.

After studying the polarization of radiation emanating from the "heart" of Sgr A *, the authors of the article noticed that some of the radio waves emitted by it were "twisted", which indicated that there were strong magnetic fields near the event horizon of the black hole and in its accretion disk.

Their structure was extremely unusual - the strength of the magnetic field in certain regions of the disk changed every 15 minutes, and its configuration was very different in different parts of the vicinity of Sgr A*. For example, the magnetic field at the far end of the disk was disordered enough that astrophysicists compare it to what tangled spaghetti looks like.

In contrast, the regions near the "leg" of the jet - a stream of high-energy particles and electromagnetic waves "spit out" by the black hole - were, on the contrary, very ordered. According to Doleman, further study of the differences in the magnetic structure of these parts of the accretion disk and the vicinity of the event horizon will make it possible to understand how jets are born and why some black holes, including Sgr A*, have extremely weak "spitting".
