Sleek and fast motorboat is an excellent training model for beginner shipbuilders. Working on nega allows you to develop the basic skills that will be required in the future in the manufacture of high-class sports models. With such boats, if several of them are made, competitions can also be arranged; it is only necessary to equip them with outboard electric motors and provide a place for attaching batteries from a flashlight.

After studying the drawing, transfer the outlines of the parts to plywood or thick cardboard. Cut them out carefully.

In the cutouts of the keel from the bow to the stern, insert the processed frames on the glue in accordance with the numbers. After that, make and glue the stringers that give the boat strength in the longitudinal direction. Glue the longest slats first: along the outer corners, then on the bottom, and lastly along the deck. Take care of the symmetry of the body relative to the longitudinal axis. To do this, carefully check and correct the position of the frames relative to the keel while the glue is still wet. Then tie the body frame tightly with twine or wire and leave to dry completely.

After sanding all the seams and edges with sandpaper, you will get a finished frame. Next stage. Glue the carefully sawn sheathing first on the bottom of the boat - the bottom, and then on the sides. The most vulnerable places in the bow, at the stern, side seams, once again coat with glue or varnish from the inside to ensure water tightness.

Saw out deck and superstructure details from thin plywood. In the deck, before gluing, drill and punch holes for superstructures. After drying, clean the joints between the deck and the hull. Now it's time to place the prefabricated superstructure on the deck.

Finally, cut out the outboard and dinghy mounts exactly to the drawing and glue them into the appropriate slots on the boat's transom.

Once again, carefully polish the finished model with the thinnest glass skin, clean it from the remnants of chips and glue and cover it with one or two layers of colorless nitro varnish. For competitions at a direct distance, a serial 4,5 V electric motor can be used as an engine. And if you put on it transceiver equipment and an engine with a shaft and a propeller and a rudder, then the motorboat can also participate in competitions of figure course models.

A New Way to Control and Manipulate Optical Signals 05.05.2024

The modern world of science and technology is developing rapidly, and every day new methods and technologies appear that open up new prospects for us in various fields. One such innovation is the development by German scientists of a new way to control optical signals, which could lead to significant progress in the field of photonics. Recent research has allowed German scientists to create a tunable waveplate inside a fused silica waveguide. This method, based on the use of a liquid crystal layer, allows one to effectively change the polarization of light passing through a waveguide. This technological breakthrough opens up new prospects for the development of compact and efficient photonic devices capable of processing large volumes of data. The electro-optical control of polarization provided by the new method could provide the basis for a new class of integrated photonic devices. This opens up great opportunities for ... >>

Primium Seneca keyboard 05.05.2024

Keyboards are an integral part of our daily computer work. However, one of the main problems that users face is noise, especially in the case of premium models. But with the new Seneca keyboard from Norbauer & Co, that may change. Seneca is not just a keyboard, it is the result of five years of development work to create the ideal device. Every aspect of this keyboard, from acoustic properties to mechanical characteristics, has been carefully considered and balanced. One of the key features of Seneca is its silent stabilizers, which solve the noise problem common to many keyboards. In addition, the keyboard supports various key widths, making it convenient for any user. Although Seneca is not yet available for purchase, it is scheduled for release in late summer. Norbauer & Co's Seneca represents new standards in keyboard design. Her ... >>

The world's tallest astronomical observatory opened 04.05.2024

Exploring space and its mysteries is a task that attracts the attention of astronomers from all over the world. In the fresh air of the high mountains, far from city light pollution, the stars and planets reveal their secrets with greater clarity. A new page is opening in the history of astronomy with the opening of the world's highest astronomical observatory - the Atacama Observatory of the University of Tokyo. The Atacama Observatory, located at an altitude of 5640 meters above sea level, opens up new opportunities for astronomers in the study of space. This site has become the highest location for a ground-based telescope, providing researchers with a unique tool for studying infrared waves in the Universe. Although the high altitude location provides clearer skies and less interference from the atmosphere, building an observatory on a high mountain poses enormous difficulties and challenges. However, despite the difficulties, the new observatory opens up broad research prospects for astronomers. ... >>

How infections spread 15.11.2009

An unusual study is underway in the French town of Berck-sur-Mer. About 800 residents of the town were provided with electronic devices that react to the approach of the same device at a distance of 2 meters or less and register such meetings.

As a result, a "diary" of contacts between participants in the experiment is created. Weekly, these volunteers take a swab from the nasal cavity and determine which bacteria live there. Genetic analysis allows you to establish not only the type, but also the strain of bacteria. For six months, information has been accumulated on a billion cases of contact between people and more than 16 thousand data on microbes that participants in the experiment involuntarily exchanged.

Data processing will take at least another year and a half, the experimenters hope to find out the laws of the spread of infections.
