The device of the combine is very peculiar. On a frame measuring 925x565x410 mm, drilled from corners 40x40 mm, in three tiers, there are: at the top - a thresher and a fan, in the middle - a fan and a block of sieves, at the bottom - drive motors and their starters.

The design of the thresher is traditional: body, drum, deck, hopper. The body and funnel are made of 300mm plywood and thin steel sheet. The drum is made of steel discs Ø 25 mm, eight corners 25xXNUMX mm and corrugated oak whips.

The deck consists of a body (two sheets of metal), a fine-meshed mesh bent along the radius with six whips attached to it, the same as those of the drum, and a suspension system on the frame - steel rods, at the ends of which there are adjusting rods. By changing the gap between the whips of the deck and the drum with the help of the latter, it is possible to adjust the unit for threshing various crops, as well as vary its quality.

The thresher is driven by two V-belts from an electric motor located on the desired tier in the middle of the frame.

The threshed grains or seeds, falling through the mesh, fall into a container installed on a shelf under the deck. Chaff and other waste are ejected by the drum from the gap between the last whip of the deck and the upper skin of the thresher and fall on the sieves, where the remaining seeds and grains are extracted from them by separation.

The block of sieves is made like a straw walker of a combine harvester. There are only two sieves here: with holes Ø 3 mm (upper) and Ø 1 mm (lower). Under them is a tray.

A sliding bearing is built into the upper part of the block: a crank with counterweights from moped engines rotates in a piece of nylon tube. The lower part of the block is suspended on two strips of plywood, which allow it to move back and forth.

The sieves are driven by an electric motor. From it, the V-belt goes to the large crank pulley. Next to this pulley is another, smaller one, from which another belt goes further - to the winnower hopper.

Now about how the bunker is arranged. It is made from 10mm plywood. Between the two boards of the body there is a flat funnel, at the mouth of which a square-section shaft rotates with a dispenser - a wooden cylinder Ø 50 mm with four longitudinal grooves. Rotating, the dispenser captures the contents of the hopper with grooves and pours them out in uniform portions at the mouth of the funnel, and therefore onto the sieves, where everything is sieved.

If the processed mass contains a lot of weed particles, then you can turn on the fan, which will drive a stream of air over the sieves and blow off the garbage. Heavier particles will fall on the sieves.

Tests have shown that the winnower works very reliably and with high quality, winnowing even such a "delicate" substance as bee pollen. Previously, beekeepers used tweezers to pick out rubbish from it, and this took a lot of time. Now the need for such a painstaking procedure disappears.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Self-healing glass 15.12.2017

A group of Japanese researchers created a special glass that has the ability to self-heal if its integrity is violated. During the development of a new type of adhesive type, a material was created that can be easily restored after a breakdown.

Researchers at the University of Tokyo, in the course of their experiments to create a special adhesive agent, managed to make a material that resembles ordinary glass in all characteristics. The main feature of the created novelty is that if the parts of the glass formed from its breaking are applied to each other along the junction where the split occurred, then they will rejoin each other.

Scientists argue that the former strength of this material in case of violation of its integrity can be easily restored by holding the broken parts in contact with each other for several hours.

The scientists called this invention "polythiourea", and according to their assurances, the new material can soon replace the usual fragile glass, which is thrown away immediately after losing its integrity.
