In modern life, the presence of a recreation area in the apartment is of great importance, helping to disconnect from worries, recuperate after a working day, and relax. A comfortable chair plays an important role in this. It is easy to make it with your own hands - for example, such as shown in our drawings. The design is quite simple, but nevertheless, it contains most of the typical nodes characteristic of home-made furniture. Therefore, first of all, making a chair can be recommended to novice craftsmen as their first "big" product - after all, the work done will help to master the necessary skills and gain experience.

Before you take up the tools, stock up on the necessary materials: boards of section 40x110 mm and 20x90 mm, slats 20x45 mm, nylon tape 30 ... 40 mm wide, sheet foam rubber and dense upholstery fabric. Do not be upset if you fail to purchase materials of the indicated sizes - take our design as a basis, make your own version.

Cozy corner
Double chair option: 1 - M6 bolt (3 pcs.), 2 - support hook (steel 3x20x80 mm, 2 pcs.)

The base of the chair consists of two identical sidewalls. It is better to assemble them and start all the work. Longitudinal screeds and armrests are joined to the legs in a spike with a smearing with carpentry glue. The sidewalls are connected to each other with the help of two transverse ties, fixation is carried out by four wedges.

The back and seat frame is assembled from slats into a spike. Another option for connecting parts, on dowels, is used at the base of the seat. It is made of four planks and nylon ribbons intertwined.

All wooden parts are carefully sanded and covered with several layers of transparent furniture varnish.

The final assembly of the chair consists in installing two M6 bolts connecting the base to the backrest frame. If desired, several holes can be provided on the side elements of the latter, then the inclination of the seat and backrest can be changed.

The seat and back cushion covers are sewn from upholstery fabric to match the interior design of the room. Covers made of artificial leather in red, raspberry or black look good. The thickness of the foam inserts is approximately 150...200 mm. Decorative upholstery buttons give a "signature" look to the pillows.

The armrests are made using the same material as the pillow covers, as well as foam rubber 10 ... 20 mm thick.

If it is possible to allocate a sufficiently large area for a rest area, we recommend making a chair for two. In principle, it is not much different from a single seat - only one more back and seat frame, a pair of pillows have been added, and the length of the transverse ties has been increased. The backs are interconnected by a bolt with an M6 nut and rest on the rear coupler with two hooks curved from a 3 mm thick steel strip. A coffee table designed in the same style and design will serve as a good addition to the chair. The assembly procedure is similar to the assembly of the chair: two sidewalls independent of each other, consisting of legs, stands and transverse sides, are interconnected by a pair of longitudinal ties with wedges. The tabletop is cut out of 10...12 mm plywood and pasted over with fine wood veneer or covered with stain and varnish. She connects with the kings on pins.

Homemade chair: 1 - leg (board 40x110x500 mm, 4 pcs.), 2 - longitudinal element of the seat frame (rail 20x45x560 mm, 2 pcs.), 3 - transverse element of the seat frame (rail 20x45x570 mm, 2 pcs.), 4 - transverse seat base element (20x45x530 mm, 2 pcs.), 5 - longitudinal element of the seat base (rail 20x45x410 mm, 2 pcs.), 6 - element of the back frame (rail 20x45x650 mm, 2 pcs.), 7 - backrest cross member (rail 20x65x570 mm), 8 - wedge (beam 20x40x100 mm, 4 pcs.), 9 - armrest (rail 20x45x500 mm, 2 pcs.), 10 - transverse coupler (board 20x90x750 mm, 2 pcs.), 11 - seat belts (nylon tape 30 ... 40 mm wide), 12 - dowel Ø 8 mm (4 pcs.), 13 - longitudinal screed (board 20x90x500 mm, 2 pcs.), 14 - backrest cross member (rail 20x45x570 mm, 3 pcs.). A - sidewall assembly, B - seat frame, C - seat base.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Revealed the secret of mosquito squeak 18.07.2020

Researchers from Johns Hopkins University (USA) found that mosquitoes flap their wings not only to stay in the air, but also to achieve two other important purposes: to generate sound and to direct it to find a potential partner. Findings from a study on the aerodynamics of mosquito wings could help create quiet drones, as well as non-toxic pest control methods using sound.

Mosquitoes need wings to fly, generate sound, and attract a mate, and mosquitoes are very effective at this - which is why there are so many malaria and other mosquito-borne diseases around. In addition, long and thin wings are ideal for generating sound - mosquitoes flap them at much higher frequencies than, say, fruit flies. There is a reason for this. Higher frequencies reproduce sounds better.

Males buzz with a higher frequency sound, while females, on the contrary, make low-frequency sounds. In order to attract a female, the mosquito must flap its long, thin wings at high frequencies, as well as rapidly rotate them at the end of each beat.

That annoying, high-pitched squeak we hear just before a female mosquito bites us is also a fluttering serenade addressed to the male mosquito's heart.

Understanding the ways and strategies used by mosquitoes to control the sound they generate could ultimately lead to the development of quiet drones. This information will also help determine how to use sound to interrupt the mating ritual and how to create non-toxic methods to suppress the breeding process and reduce the mosquito population.
