It's nice in the summer, sitting comfortably on a bench, in an armchair, reading a book, talking with friends. To protect the resting place from the sun, we propose to build a light and beautiful "umbrella": an elegant gazebo.

The designs of such canopies can be very different. Consider only two types, the most simple and affordable. The most important feature of the proposed options is assembly. They are easily mounted for the summer period, and in the fall they are disassembled and folded into a shed, onto the veranda.

The first of these arbors can be called frame. Its frame consists of aluminum or steel pipes, which are easy to bend and dock. The height and width of the vertical frames and the length of the horizontal elements connecting them are the same - 2000 mm. The entire canopy is assembled from bent (main) bearing elements and straight crosswise, forming a rigid stable structure.

The connecting elements of the joints of the bent parts of the frame are wooden or metal bosses 100 mm long each. They should fit tightly inside the pipe approximately halfway and be fixed through transverse holes drilled through with M5 screws with nuts. The same bosses can be inserted from both ends of the crossbars: long screws are screwed into them, passed through the holes made at the bends of the supporting elements.

If it was not possible to get long pipes, it is permissible to assemble a frame from shorter ones, connecting them with metal pins or tubular inserts, the diameter of which should be 1 mm smaller than the inner diameter of the pipes being connected.

Installation of such a canopy takes no more than an hour. A square piece of fabric measuring 2300x2300 mm is stretched on top of the frame. The fabric can be plain or multi-colored - with a bright decorative pattern. It is attached to the pipes with ties or clips (staples). They should be placed every 300-400 mm, adjusting curly cutouts along the edges of the fabric under them.

In order for the canopy to stand firmly on the ground, it is necessary to replace the lower part of the frame with metal pins driven into the ground. However, to protect the green carpet of grass from trampling, it is advisable to cover the area under the canopy with wooden shields - then the frame can be attached to them.

Each shield - square (700x700 mm) - is assembled from rails 100 mm wide and 20 mm thick. The slats are nailed to transverse bars spaced 100 mm from the edge of the shield. Between themselves, the shields are also connected with wooden bars. To do this, through holes are drilled in the rails and connecting bars, into which embedded bolts are inserted.

At the beginning of summer, the shields are laid out on the ground and connected into a single flooring. Tables, chairs, benches, sun loungers are placed on it. Shields can be covered with dark or colorless varnish in two or three layers. In autumn, the flooring is dismantled and cleaned into the room.

Another type of canopy is truss. Each support consists of openwork panels 2000 mm high and 500 mm wide. They are interconnected by card loops. The panels are moved apart at an angle of 30 °, fixed on top with a metal spacer bracket, and a stable support is ready. A truss wall assembled from such panels is fastened to an adjacent wooden rail or metal rod, pipe.

An awning made of decorative fabric is also stretched over this frame. Canopy dimensions (in terms of) 200x2000 mm or 3000x3000 mm. It is also installed on a platform of shields. In this case, the panels must have locking pins included in the shield.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Looking at the sick makes us healthier 19.02.2011

Employees of the University of British Columbia (Canada) showed volunteers photographs of men with weapons aimed at the viewer and pictures of sick people. Although the photographs of armed men were regarded by the test subjects as more unpleasant and disturbing, on a physiological level, photographs of the sick were more influenced.

A blood test showed that after viewing pictures with patients, the participants in the experiment increased immunity. In the blood, the level of a protective compound, interleukin, increased by 24%. From an evolutionary point of view, such a reaction is understandable, says psychologist Mark Schaller, one of the authors of the study.

If you see sick people around you, it makes sense to strengthen the immune system. But how exactly the mechanism that links vision with immunity works is not yet clear.
