The article describes an installation for thermal anti-mite treatment of bees.

...It so happened that a nearby collective farm apiary was struck by varroatosis - a contagious bee disease. How to save the hives? Kruzhkovtsy visited the apiary and on the spot got acquainted with the requirements for the future installation. The main of them: complete and harmless to bees getting rid of mites should be ensured.

In the classroom, the circle collectively discussed several design options and chose the most successful one.

This is how a bee sauna works. The body (Fig. 1) is a straight parallelepiped made of five-layer plywood. At the top is a lid with a seal, a large glazed viewing window is mounted in it. Inside the body, in the chamber, there is a cylindrical mesh drum with end shots. A bee family is placed here during heat treatment. Below is a kind of funnel for collecting and bringing out, into a special tray, ticks crumbling under the influence of elevated temperature. An electric thermoelement is installed at the bottom of the chamber to heat the air in it up to +42°; the mode is supported automatically by a thermal relay. The course of treatment is monitored visually: by two thermometers mounted in the housing cover.

The main unit of the installation is a drum (Fig. 2), the cylindrical part of which is covered with a steel mesh with cells 4x4 mm in size. Six duralumin blades are distributed on the grid along the circumference. On the removable end part - the cover of the drum, attached to it with three bolts with wing nuts - there are also three radially arranged blades. When rotating, they create air circulation in the chamber. Pins are fixed on the same cover and on the opposite end of the drum, which serve as the axis of rotation.

How is the installation used? The bee family affected by varroatosis is shaken off the honeycomb frames into an open drum, the lid is closed and pressed tightly with wing nuts. The drum is lowered into the chamber so that the trunnions slide along the vertical grooves milled in the walls of the housing. The latter end above metal plates screwed to the walls of the case. These are plain bearings in which the drum is rotated by a handle inserted into a through hole in the housing opposite one of the pins. The end of the trunnion has a square section, a handle is put on it.

Replace the cover with a viewing window and turn on the thermocouple in the network. As soon as the air temperature in the chamber rises, the drum begins to rotate smoothly at a speed of 45-50 rpm. Do this for six to seven minutes, observing the progress of the heat treatment through the viewing window.

When the loss of heat-neutralized mites from the drum stops, the process of "treatment" of the bees is completed. The drum is taken out of the housing, the lid is removed and the now healthy bees are shaken out into their hive.

Video card GeForce RTX 3090 Hall of Fame 06.02.2021

Galax introduced the GeForce RTX 3090 video card in the Hall of Fame (HOF) flagship modification, designed for enthusiasts and overclockers. It has four solutions that differ in the delivery kit and factory overclocking of the Nvidia GA102 core.
