It is known that excellent steel goes to the blade of hacksaws for metal, so any, even a small piece, consider it as an initial workpiece for a wide variety of cutting tools. The options given here are far from exhausting the variety of devices that can be obtained from broken files.

First of all, you need to make a handle for the future set of cutters. Use, for example, a tube with a diameter of 20-25 mm from any non-ferrous metal. It is convenient in that one end of it can be easily turned into a cutter holder, and the other into a case for storing them, plugged with a suitable stopper.

To get a holder, it is enough to grind off one side with a file until a longitudinal groove is formed, and then flatten this end by laying a plate slightly thicker than a hacksaw blade into it. It remains to drill a hole for the tightening screw with a knurled round nut. The same hole is drilled at the end of each fragment of the file, previously released on fire (glow to redness and allow to cool in air).

Then proceed to the formation of a set of cutters. From the longest piece, make a saw blade, for which you simply sharpen the toothless edge. From short fragments, a whole range of cutters for a variety of jobs will turn out. For example, for cutting leather, rubber, cardboard, the so-called joint knife is indispensable, in which the blade is sharpened obliquely and only on one side. Close to it, but with their own form of sharpening, are cutters for working with wood, for example, for artistic carving. A small chisel will turn out if you sharpen the end edge of the fragment. On a grindstone, it is easy to give the canvas a hook-shaped shape - this will be a claw for cutting plexiglass, textolite, getinaks and other hard sheet materials. And such a claw sharpened from the inside is a convenient cutter for cutting electrical cables, removing rubber or plastic insulation from wires. A sharp beak is a scribbler or an awl.

Universal handle for cutters: 1 - tube-pencil case, 2 - tightening screw, 3 - nut, 4 - pencil case plug, 5 - saw

We have given only a brief listing of the tool from the hacksaw blade, and its variations are truly endless. So you took a wooden rail and drove a nail at one end, and at the other end you made a groove for the already mentioned jamb, which you fixed with a screw - you got a compass knife: it’s convenient for them to cut circular blanks or holes of different diameters, just change the location of the nail.

And even an unprocessed fragment of a file fixed in a cycle will facilitate the removal of rust, cleaning of putty surfaces, plastics, wood, non-ferrous metal. No, do not throw away the fragments of the hacksaw blade: they can find a second working life.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

A common feature of all happy couples 24.04.2024

In search of a happy and healthy relationship, couples may look to various aspects such as respect, trust and fidelity. However, scientists from Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (MLU) and the University of Bamberg have found that one key trait may play an important role in relationship satisfaction: the level of power in a couple. Let's look at how this affects happiness and stability in relationships.

The study, conducted by researchers from Martin Luther University and the University of Bamberg, included a survey of 181 couples who had lived together for at least one month and had been in relationships for an average of eight years. Survey participants assessed various aspects of their relationships by filling out a questionnaire.

The results of the study showed that those couples where both partners experienced a high level of power were happy. Power was understood as the ability to influence others and avoid similar influence in the opposite direction. In the context of a couple relationship, this refers to the ability to make shared important decisions.

It turned out that an imbalanced level of power in a couple was not a major factor in relationship satisfaction. The most important thing turned out to be the personal level of power that the partner assumes from his interlocutor.

Research findings highlight the importance of power levels in relationships for achieving happiness and satisfaction. This is less a question of balance of power and more about the perception of personal power in a couple. Awareness of your own power and respect for your partner's power can contribute to a healthy, long-lasting relationship.
