It is the lateral line that allows huge schools of fish to move and turn synchronously. And some fish - sharks, rays and chimeras - have developed another sense. They are able to perceive the electric fields of other inhabitants of the underwater world, which are created by the work of the respiratory muscles and heart, and thereby detect victims in shelters. The electroreceptors themselves are located on the skin in the form of capsules and tubes and are called the ampullae of Lorenzini.
